Thanks for the great info. I understand the doing well part, but could you please explain what you mean by "don't polarize yourself"
What i mean is pretty much dont damage your reputation with anyone on the admissions committee or anyone with any amount of influence in general.
It is not 100% guaranteed that you will get the spot at EVMS but if you put in the effort and still want to go to med school at the end of the program, you will get in. You are expected to do better than the M1s, i mean come on, you have less class then they do, it should be pretty much automatic! As far as how much better, if you want to gamble with $30k in tuition, at the very least, you should pass all of your classes. I have heard of several people who have gotten below average (a C) in a class or two and have still gotten in. In addition, you are expected to get at least a high pass or honors in at least a class every semester.
The graduate school classes seem like they're going to be pretty easy based on my discussions with the program director here. The 2 classes are once a week each, have 2 exams, both of which are take home. So pretty much for the 2nd semester we are taking physio, biochem and the two grad school classes. Med students are taking 3 additional classes, neuroscience, human development and a medical mentorship class. This pretty much means we have a ton of time to study for 2 classes.
I feel like this program really is designed for people with bad gpas and decent/good mcats who really cant get to the interview stage. You really dont have time to take the mcat here while in the program so its more or less expected that your score is already good in preparation for matriculation the following year.
