Thank you so much Guju! I will surely read their postings! I have a overall of 3.57 with a 29M(retaking it in July) and pretty decent EC (5 publications, 10+ abstracts, 10+ research conference presentations, LOR from UCIMS dean of Medicine, UCI MS dean of education, Steering committee for major medical mission fundraisers, put up health fairs for low income communities, ballroom dance, marathon runner, etc. However, I did turn in my primaries late last year and never turned in a secondary. I am not sure if this program will help me. A few people have told me that it will not benefit me as much and might hurt my chances. what do you guys think?
How are the Hague Club apartments, in terms of facilities, maintenance, unit size, etc. compared to Hague Tower and Pembroke Tower? I just got an email saying they have some availabilities for this summer for people already on the waitlist but I'm close to signing a lease at Hague Tower.
In the financial aid package for last year, how much did EVMS budget for living expenses?
Anyone know when orientation is the med masters program? When do classes start?
Any updates on how many med masters students have been accepted to EVMS med school?
thanks,
Nightman
Can't give you exact numbers of med masters acceptances, but the majority have already heard. Those that haven't should know by the end of June, I would imagine.

So if you didn't get the email about this I'm guessing they haven't reached your "spot"? I REALLY want to live in the Hague. I guess I'll just call and ask tomorrow
The email was to notify people of availability of furnished rooms. They sent out an email to all those who stated they were interested in furnished rooms on the application.
I just got accepted into the program! 🙂 Advices?
Hey I applied on may 15th of this year. I was on the waitlist for about 2 weeks 🙂 Thank You! will you be going to EVMS SMP also?congrats, when did you apply? were you on the wait list, and if so how long were you on the waitlist?
\you guys came to the right program, I think it has one of the best linkage rate out of all the SMP programs. As of now, 20/23 of us have gotten into med school

I do not know if i'll be going, i've been on the waitlist (top 1/3) for more than a month now, starting to lose hope!
Well, in order for this WL to start moving, someone currently in the SMP program has gotta get off a waitlist at an MD school or somewhere else, meaning someone at that school has to get off a waitlist, which means someone at top tier or cheap state school needs to decide to switch career paths or defer for a year or something. So maybe we should find a way to target these upstream effectors...
Edit: I need a more challenging day job
no way, attrite is a VERB? I had no idea.
Meanwhile I'm sitting in the Norfolk airport, on my way home after a 2 day visit. Very comfortable w/the decision to do EVMS. And I scored a way cool apartment.
Plus I met Daedalus, which was great AND by far the most Matrix-like experience I've had. Wait, SDN isn't reality?!?

Soooooooo freaking true!!!! This year the waitlists at medical school are moving sooooooooooooo slowly. and its not necessarily cuz of people who had multiple acceptances but because a lot of schools over accepted by larger numbers so they need to attrite people off the overaccepted list first at many places. I know of at least one school that over accepted by a much larger number.
haha so true. that's why I'm against those who just jump on the DO or island school bandwagon to rush it up.
Where else are you waitlisted outside of EVMS?
hahaha that's so funny cuz those are all the schools that waitlisted me except UC put me a step below waitlist on hold if by UC you mean UCincy.
Did you apply to BU MAMS???? That's the one I got into and actually the second most well known. its only drawback is that its ultra expensive and they want you to apply after doing the year of classes.
so you applied late, like recently and got in? I would definitely consider it, if they're still taking applications.Would you consider applying to their SMP??? I would and did because of being in the same situation as you with 4 SMP waitlists.
Dr. Midlife, care to share some things you found out about EVMS during your trip? Whether it be about the school, students, area, etc. By the way, where are you going to be living in the fall?
I had a tough time deciding between UCinci and EVMS because they are very similar programs, but it really came down to the cost of living being cheaper in Norfolk and generally being a more pleasant climate and atmosphere.I'd also been accepted at Tufts and Tulane ACP, and waitlisted at Gtown and Cincinnati, so I'd done similar obsessing about location and program and had that data with which to compare EVMS.
Quick question: any considerable advantages or disadvantages to living at Hague Tower vs Pembroke Tower?
I realize that Pembroke is closer to campus, although not by much. Is one "nicer" than the other? thanks
I cannot find the SMP group on facebook...
Hi EVMS acceptees!
Can anyone who has received FAFSA aid for their acceptance, please answer this concerning question?
Does the subsidized loan include housing money and food? Or do they only give you enough Stafford loans to cover the ~30k loans for tuition?
Thank you!!!
Cost of attendance includes tuition/books/rent/food/transportation/miscellaneous. Federal loans cover cost of attendance. Subsidized Stafford maxes out at $8500, then unsubsidized Stafford covers another $12k, and the rest is GradPlus.
Last year's COA is here: http://www.evms.edu/students/fin-aid/budgets/biomed.html. Tuition went up a couple thousand for OOS, less for instate. Award letters won't go out until the end of July or so.
Thanks! Just to clarify,
can one take GradPlus (if they pay the interest while in school) over unsubsidized, or do you have to use up unsubsidized funds first before exhausting GradPlus?
