I called EVMS a long time back and asked whether my application was complete. Someone told me that not only was it complete, but I was placed in the interview pile as well. Great! Then, 3 weeks later, I got a rejection letter. Go figure...😱
 
I called...no decision made yet.
It seems that people on waitlist or accepted were told about the decision...
Maybe it isn't a good sign.

yea thats what im thinking too. did you also interview on the 21st?
 
I can't believe it. I interviewed end of September and was completely expecting a waitlist position, but holy crap, I have gotten into medical school!

did you call today and find out? My interview was also at the end of september.
 
Yep, I called today. When I called, they put me on hold twice, and put a dramatic pause between "you'll be getting a letter"...."of acceptance". I thought for a minute she was trying to let me down gently.

If you don't mind me asking, did you interview the Wednesday or Friday?

really! all this time I thought I would be getting an interview too! I was complete in the summer and I still have heard nothing since i called and was told I would get an interview

So those of you who have been accepted over the phone, how likely are you to attend EVMS? are you both in state? 🙂

That's what I thought as well. They told me I would be getting an interview invite (via email) in mid-August, but they haven't sent anything. I've even contacted them, but have been told the same thing. It's happened to other OOSers as well.

I still have some hope, but I wouldn't be surprised if I don't get anything from them. From my experience with employers, there's a huge difference from saying that you are going to interview someone than actually following through with it. I doubt that it's any different with med schools.

i'm not OOS, but i called and was told i would be getting an interview. i waited a couple of weeks, and after not hearing anything from them (including this so-called "you are complete" postcard), i called again asking if they knew when i might find out about when i could interview. they let me schedule a date on the spot and were really nice about it. you might want to try the same thing.

Well some people have been worrying that no word over the phone means a rejection, but nobody really knows. I wouldn't start to worry until you have the decision letter in front of you.

So, I took your advice and called them. I asked them when I could schedule an interview with their school. They took a look at my file, and are now telling me that they a decision still has be made about my application. 😕

I then told her again that they had earlier indicated that I would "definitely" be receiving an invite, she said that the date of any interview would be decided when the admissions committee takes a look at my file.

I don't know really what to think. I get the sense that they totally backtracked from what they had repeatedly told me or they were just yanking my chain....

I interviewed on 14 Sept, called on 1 Oct and they had made a decision. So a little over 2 weeks.

Did you get a rejection letter via snail-mail? I did..so, I don't really know if I can hope for much now. Is this some kind of game they're playing with OOS applicants?😕

Hmmm. They also told me at the beginning of august I'd be receiving an invite via email, but I haven't gotten it yet. Regardless, I just withdrew my application (post GWU acceptance), so I guess I'll never know if they were going to go back on what they said or not. Pretty sketchy, if you ask me. Good luck guys!
 
so i called them today, and asked what's going on. the lady said the committee still has not reviewed my file yet. i kept asking whats going on because i interviewed 9/21 and its been close to a month now but she couldn't really tell me more than that.

i dunno what evms is doing but it's really annoying me. i have a feeling they've lost or forgotten about my file. 🙁

Still no word? That really is odd.
 
their whole committee only meets the 3rd monday of every month, and then the super secret committee that makes the final decisions meets at an undisclosed time and location- so if you interviewed the 21st the probably discussed you monday, and now the final committee will discuss you this week or next week. it's definitely a weird timing thing. good luck!

Still, the mystery of why I received a decision (last week) and soccerpunk didn't, even though we interviewed on the same day, remains.

we had a big group with us, i think it was 18 or so right? maybe thats why, they couldnt get to all of us, so they did most and have the remaining few to go (me included). oh well, i'll try again later this week, and hopefully they make a decision.

I'm sorry to tell you this soccerpunk. I interviewed on 10/3 and called today and they had already reviewed my file and made a decision. I have no idea why you haven't heard back yet!

I am on the waitlist by the way. Not a bad place to be since half the M1 class this year is from the waitlist. My best friend is there and confirmed it.

I have had my secondary submitted for quite a while now and still haven't heard anything from them. I've called and they told me that I'll definitely be getting an interview, but still haven't heard anything from them...not even the supposed postcard notifying me my application is complete. I hope I hear something from them soon. Congratulations to all of you who have already been accepted!!! That is so awesome!!! I hope to be in that boat soon!
 
I know! I want my letter too! Any of you who were accepted get a letter yet, or ask when they were going to be sent out? I half want to call them back and make sure I wasn't hallucinating the acceptance...

I called them Wednesday to make sure they had my correct address (I had moved back in July) and she reconfirmed my acceptance. But ya, no letter yet for me either. Ashmarj, are you in Cali? Maybe it takes longer for the mail to get to us.
 
I just called EVMS, and I got an interview!!! Woo hoo! Any advice guys?
 
i don't know if i'd say half of us are off the waitlist. but a large portion def come from the waitlist so don't fret too much. from last year i found out early october and didn't get the official letter for probably 2 weeks or so after that. good luck guys
 
Nope, I'm in DC...so if a letter had been sent out, I should have gotten it pretty quickly...

nope nothing yet. I think they are just taking awhile to get the acceptance letters out. don't worry, it wasn't a hallucination 🙂 LOL
 
hey still no decision for me. this friday will be 5 weeks post-interview. so no complaints from any of you lol
 
I interviewed on 9/26 and I got my acceptance letter in the mail yesterday when I got home from work.
 
I'm interviewing there tomorrow...Anyone else?

how does the waitlist work? so if you interview earlier are you higher up on the waitlist than someone who interviews later?? is it like a rolling waitlist.
 
I just called evms and they told me I'm on the upper 1/3 waitlist. they will start pulling the waitlisters in march. They also told me that you can be pulled from a lower 1/3 as well as a upper 1/3. So I guess being in the upper 1/3 is not that great.

ok..well based on what they said about taking people from the waitlist last year (about half their class came from it) you should probably get in...last question...when did you call or when did you find out? and are you IS or OOS?
