wow that was pretty fast. I dont have the guts to call them and they have probably made a decision on me.

yeah, I call at least 3x a week

all they have to say is no decision has been made yet

Just got waitlisted at EVMS as well!!! I interviewed in late October!

Ok I am going to call them on Monday. I have made up my mind Monday is the day...eeek😱!

Good luck! I always think it's better to know...that way you can start bugging them with letters of intent. 😉

'bugging them with letters of intent IF WAITLISTED". Oops! Didn't mean to imply you were going to be! So again, good luck with that Monday call.

so i got put on the waitlist today!! 🙁🙁🙁

I talked to the lady and she told me I would be in the upper 1/3 part of the waitlist. I asked her why I was waitlisted. I asked her why I was waitlisted and she told me there are no more spots available! How can they run out of spots so quickly?? She told me I had a good chance of getting accepted but I dunno how much to believe this. I am instate. I had a friend who was not accepted from the waitlist who was also instate! I am pretty bummed today. EVMS was one of my favorite schools.
It totally sucks if they have already filled all the spots!!! Man that's a real downer.

what that is scary. oh well none of us can do anything abt it.

anyone else calling on monday...I need a support group lol.

maybe when you call you could ask about this rumor of their spots being filled? and then report back? pretty please?

EVMS fills their spots as they go along. as a result, theres a LOT of waitlist movement. from what i hear, if you're in the top third, you have a really good chance of getting off the waitlist.

I am also going to call on Monday. It's only been 2 weeks since my interview but maybe they've already made a decision (hopefully a positive one). I'm a bit nervous too....

i had my interview on 10/17, then got accepted 11/05 (Monday). so the admission committee made a decision on friday, the week before.

I called the admissions office this morning and no decision has been made yet, so it looks like I will be calling again next Monday. (Although will they even be making decisions this week since they will probably be off for Thanksgiving?)
Good luck to whateva07 and anyone else calling this week!

knowing is so much better than not knowing. and if you get this out of the way, you can give yourself a pity party for 15 minutes and then focus on VCU!

I called this morning and was told the adcom was meeting this evening or tomorrow evening and to give a call back on Wednesday.

I interviewed on October 10 and still have not heard.

Waiting is fun.

i wonder if i was really that terrible that they just threw me in the waitlist pile immediately after i left the room. it doesn't make sense how i had a decision after i interviewed oct 31 and all of you guys don't.

luckycharm I don't think it has anything to do with that...my impression is that it depends mostly on who interviewed you and when they submit your evaluation...some do it promptly and others may have you waiting a month...like mine apparently

Ok so I kept staring at the number the whole day, and I was so nervous to call. Then I was like just get it over with, and I finally got the guts to give them call with my heart beating 1000 beats per min and I found out they still havent made a decision on me. The adcom meets tonight by the way. I'm relived in way at least I know where I stand even though its no decision yet.

Are all of the spots filled already?? I am praying for movement in the waitlist!!

If the spots are already filled, then that really sucks. How do they determine where u are in the waitlist?

Well, I called today since I was told the adcom was meeting last night. No surprise, they still have not made a decision. It has now been 6 weeks since my interview and still no answer. It's hard not to jump to conclusions at this point. I am still positive, but it is just torture.

I hope some of you guys heard back but if not, do you know when the adcom meets again?

just called - waitlisted in the top 1/3. instate here. i interviewed on oct. 24.

little disappointing, but not the end of the world.

good luck all and hope for the best! eat off your worries this thursday 😉

I just called today too. I interviewed Oct. 31st and found out today that I am waitlisted (OS, middle third).

I tried to ask the admissions officer about waitlist movement but got a lot of vague answers. She confirmed that a lot of matriculated students are pulled from the waitlist and that the procedure is one OS withdrawl is replace with an OS waitlist.

I asked her specifically if upper 1/3 waitlists get priority movement, and she told me no. She said you get pulled off the waitlist regardless of which third you where placed in and that they didn't pull upper thirds first. This is super confusing. What is the point of dividing waitlisted students into thirds then?

Hey, I was put on the waitlist as well! I'm in the middle 1/3, though. I don't quite understand why they even have that system if no priority is given... Don't worry - most of their class is taken off of the waitlist because some of the people holding acceptances early on withdraw their application.

is there any consensus on how long after the interview we should wait before calling to hear a decision? i interviewed in mid-november.

i called exactly 2 weeks after i interviewed and they had a decision for me. but i think yours might be delayed thanks to thanksgiving

I just called, upper third waitlist. I asked her about the waitlist and she gave me a pretty clear answer, parts of which have already been mentioned in this thread:

They take people from the waitlist based on gender and state of residence. For instance, if a male OOS applicant withdraws, a male OOS applicant from the waitlist gets an acceptance to replace him. Same thing applies for each comination of male/female and IS/OOS.

They DO take from the upper third of the waitlist first, but not everyone from the upper third will get accepted before people from the middle third start to get accepted due to the male/female/IS/OOS thing. For example, if a female IS withdraws but there are no female IS students left on the upper third waitlist, they will take a female IS from the middle third even if there are female OOS or male IS/OOS applicants left in the upper third.

let the gender wars begin:laugh:

I called today and still no decision on my app (interviewed Nov. 2). I asked when the adcom would be meeting again and was told "The admissions committee meets every week but because of the holiday I'm not sure if they will be meeting this week"

I interviewed in mid October, called last week...nothing yet...but going to call tomrrow.

i just called and they said they got a bunch of files in yesterday afternoon from adcom...so there may be some status updates later on this afternoon.

still no decision, and it's been about a month...

NCgirl85: did you hear from evms yet?

I finally heard back (~7 weeks post interview). I was waitlisted...lower 1/3. I am trying to look at this positively, but it seems like the odds will be against me.

Good luck to everyone else.

i wonder if the longer they make you wait, the more likely you are to be waitlisted...🙁

I was told that the length you have to wait is determined by how long it takes your adcom interviewer to submit all the paperwork. At least that is what a lady in the admissions office told me. I do, however, agree that the longer you wait the more convinced you are that you'll be waitlisted...and it was correct in my case. Damnit.

ugh...i need to get away from sdn...it's making me super depressed *sigh*

No, I haven't heard anything yet... I think I will wait and call back next week since I just called them on Monday. I'm sensing a waitlist in my future...

Try not to worry about it... even if you get put on the waitlist, you still have a good chance of getting accepted. EVMS takes a lot from the waitlist, and most schools like for you to send them updates and show continued interest in the school so just hang in there!

Still dont know....I'm assuming waitlist. 🙁

i still don't know either its been almost 6 weeks for me...i just called today and still no decision...i feel like we can just bond based on all being tortured for a while lol
