So I was glanced at a form for a summer camp my little brother is going to, and it said how a physical was necessary, either from an MD, PA, or NP. I mentioned to my mom how they forgot to put DO, and she said osteopaths aren't qualified to give medical exams. WTF? Her sister is an MD. When I informed her that MD=DO, she said "They want you to think they're equivalent, but they're not real doctors". I then told her how they learn everything MDs do, plus one extra class, and she then went quiet.

DO =///= MD

While the degree may be similar, the caliber of student isn't even close. I wouldn't trust a DO to make medical decisions either!

Enjoy your second application cycle. I guess if I was a higher caliber student, I would've had to apply a few times too, and spent a few more years of my life working in a job I didn't like and making no money.

I won't actually be re-applying, but thanks. Got off the waitlist at a top-20 ((MD)) school this week. Good luck getting into a competitive residency!

Just like there are poor DO students there are poor MD students. There are plenty of DO students that score 90th percentile and above on USMLE. If a DO does a MD residency, with your logic, you shouldn't trust MDs to make medical decisions either, since there level of training is on the same caliber.

I find it different. Usually the prejudice exists in the medical community ESPECIALLY with those top specialties at top hospitals.
General population just want to be treated, they could careless if you are a DO/MD/or some other D's.
If you ARE a good doctor, you are a good doctor...

Ur state school isn't top 20 ahahahahah

Don't bend over for the troll (or anyone for that matter).

Hmm, this intrigues me... I guess I should tell my fellow students who have 3.9 GPAs from places like USAFA and USMA and other high-end schools that they aren't quality students, said by dude above... Yeah, I guess the USMA doesn't turn out very high caliber people at all... Strange that my cousins who both graduated from there are making crap-loads of money, one is an Army Colonel and the other is a VP for a large multi-national company...

obvious troll, probably got rejected by do school..
why are you all responding to a 'super snake'?

Ha the best part is feinbergfan2012 was completely serious in his posts.

I received an infraction this morning for "intent to inflame." I apologize if any of you required NSAIDS after reading my comments.

Nevertheless, I think it's great that you all stand by your cause so emphatically. You will make great family practitioners one day. Good luck!

We need more mods. The amount of trolling is getting ridiculous.

ZOMG he used a medical acronym to make an internet funny and twist the words around from the infraction.
Obviously he is a very high caliber student and is just way better than any lowly DO student 🙄

You mean NSAIDs? No?

Oh and for the record, FM docs, are the people who care for more people than any other group of docs in the country. Why would I ever be ashamed that I want to do the most good out of any specialty? Why would I be ashamed that I want to volunteer my time to help the homeless? Why would I feel bad that as a FM doc I can work 8-5 and be done, or like a friend 7 on/7 off and make 1500$/day? You must be one of those people who fooled the adcoms into believing you are in med school for something other than money....
