Im finding it difficult to do weightlifiting and studying at the same time because working out drains my energy. And takes about two days to recover. But I'm losing valuable study time. Does this mean I have to cut back on working out and go at it a little easy?

The only thing is that the easier I go the less gains a person usually see's.

i think this is a no brainer... u want to become a dentist then stop working out
you wanna look big, then go ahead

actually its proven exercise is good for study habits. The healthier you are the better your study habits will be, it isnt choosing between one or the other, it is time management my friend. Study first then workout and get a nice rest. There is absolutely NO REASON to not have the time to lift and study. And no offense.. why are you asking us? you know yourself better than we do... we don't know your scheduel but I do know I take 18 credits per semester and still find time to study and workout.

Same happen to me...more studying=less weightlifting
-I went from benching and doing squats at a decent weight, to being very flabby. When I acutally studied ( esp during the DATs and last couple of semesters) I got very scrawnny👎. Now I got time and back into it and feels great, taking Ripped Fuel👍, and NOX👍 and Isopure👍...mmmhhh!...Just sacrifice a little, but def try to at minimum eat right.

Yeah, you're recovery time is probably low due to not eating right, make sure you're getting plent of protein like 30% of your diet, to make up for what you're doing in the gym. Also, take a short nap if you're feeling tired, like 20 minutes, and you should feel fine to get back on the studying horse.

Try some cardio too to get your endurance up. Running and cycling definitely help calm my nerves and enable me to sit still long enough to study.

Personally I find weight training a great way to take a break in between my studies. Study for a few hours then take a break and hit up the gym, clear your head so its just you and the weights, have a good workout then go back to the books. Of course eating smart and healthy is crucial as well. If your feeling a little drained or tired that day have a cup of coffee or energy drink before you train.

Bringing flashcards to study in between reps is a great way to study. You might not get a date on friday night, but who cares.

haha, i've done that before. people will prob just think you're reading your workout routine. you know how people bring notepads with them and record how many reps/lifts they do? just put it back in your pocket when you start lifting again. and to the OP, i workout everyday and i feel that it helps keep me sane. no one can study for 12 hours striaght for 2 months. but if you can, then you are amazing.

If I don't run/workout then I have trouble focusing on what I want to study. If you study rigorously, then you owe yourself an hour of the day to workout! Working out gives you a chance to take a mental break and then come back to what you were studying. Also, you can somewhat study while you work out. Try to review and repeat your notes to yourself in your head while you are lifting, time between reps, running, whatever the case may be. I find this an excellent way to study. If you can't recall something from memory of what you were studying, then you can go back to your room and look over what you could not recall from memory. Works for me anyway👍

when i was studying..and actually pretty much consistently through undergrad, i scheduled all my yoga classes, trainer visits, and daily gym trips ass early in the AM--it really helped me get my day in order and give me energy.

PS:when i say ass early, i mean literally 5AM:laugh:

yes. I have done both for years. There are times when you do need to sacrifice working out but most of the time you just need to time manage

Eating healthy is key to being able to do both. Eating plenty of Carbohydrates will give you muscles the energy they need to recover. Carbohydrates are also the only source of energy that you brain can use. You just need to balance your diet and you time and it will be ok.

use muscle milk supplement or any other supplement with glutamine. short recovery times👍

i feel what you guys are saying about studying. I am a bodybuilder. I usually stop putting on mass at this point anyway. But the loss of energy from weightlifting hinders studying no matter how I alter my diet. I am a heavy lifter and deadlift 405lbs and bench 315+. I have a friend likes to work out in the morning and he does half the weight usually and feels great afterwards while i feel tired.

i say if you are a heavy lifter and don't want to lose the mass lift at night when you are done with your studying.

if you want to study while running you could try audio learn. a guy from my kaplan class made me a copy that had bio, chem and orgo. i just put it on to my ipod, but i don't think i could run to it.
