My school is on the block system, which I absolutely love. However, I have noticed that the week after a block ends is just awful. After studying >13-14 hours a day for almost six days straight it is super hard to pick back up on monday and do work. All I want to do is go see movies, play xbox, or go downtown and explore.

I am just looking for some examples or ideas on how people chill out, and get rested up so they get back at it the next week. Drinking binges? Weekend getaways? Any ideas are helpful. 🙂

you are studying twice as much as you should

How much are you trying to do during the first week of a block? Hope you're scaling down the studying quite a bit. Otherwise, I've found that weekend getaways are great (my family lives about 4 hours away so sometimes I visit them) and it's nice to get caught up on "life-stuff" like laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning, etc. I also always make sure to get dinner/drinks with friends, get some exercise, and plenty of sleep of course. Drinking binges can be fun at the time but the hangover can really screw up the rest of your weekend.

Maybe 2-5 hours a day. I don't go to class, so that gives me plenty of time to do class work. Its just a huge struggle after an exam to do anything school related, maybe that's just how it has to be.

I'm not a procrastinator at all, but this is the way my school did M2 year - and it was rediculous how burnt out I was in the first week post test. Hang in there, the year (and preclinicals in general) only lasts so long 🙂

rediculousness!

I just finished my block 2 exam last friday as well, and I know exactly how you feel. It felt so good to do absolutely nothing this weekend, and dragging my butt to class tomorrow at 8am is the last thing I want to do. But hey, before you know it it'll be Christmas, and then bam you'll be taking Step 1, and then boom you'll be a 3rd year in the hospital.
