We recently started drilling and each replacement tooth cost 2$!!!!! Wtf man I go through so many teeth. I'm gonna end up paying over 200 just on plastic teeth. Is it possible to buy Columbia dentoform teeth from somewhere else? Does your dental school charge this much for plastic teeth!?

Ours are ~$1.70 per tooth for the Kilgore Dentoform (we used Columbia our first year and I dont remember the cost). But, for example, I cut ~20-25 preps in preparation for our FGC practical... I eneded up with an really high grade and the ability to cut and finish the prep in under 35 minutes. So, was it excessive? Probably but it was worth it and increased my overall hand skills and ability to self-assess my preps.

Stuff adds up but it is all a drop in the bucket in the big scheme of things especially when you realize THIS is what is going to make you a better and more proficient dentist.

You mean you can't learn to finish the prep in under 35 minutes with only 3 teeth 😱

Anyways, focus more on not loosing and damaging your instruments because that will end up costing you more than teeth in the long run 👍

True that brother. I had to replace my #7 wax spatula and trubyte occlusal plane which cost me $45... RIP OFF.

And, no, you cannot get a good prep in under 35 minutes with only 3 teeth (as a young and inexperienced dental student)... Unless you were bred for dentistry

Just wait until you have to buy endo teeth... $15/each!

Dont you just love that pearl that schools don't mention when you interview. I am just glad we dont have to pay for individual teeth at Louisville.

ohh, the teeth are cheap compared to other materials you'll be buying...

Ours are about $2.28 per tooth too. We were given 10 to start, which I blew through in a few hours. However, when I had to buy the tooth, it forced me to slow down and get it right. Although it sucks having to pay so much for d-school and then $2.28 per tooth on top of that, I think it actually helped me get better faster. After all, you only get one try on a real person.

^^^^ this.

Kinda wish they would supply a list of prices when they handed out our materials at the beginning of D1. I'm sure they would have had I asked, but it never even crossed my mind.

Maybe we wouldnt have blow through so much PVS material.

Keep that in mind when you tell your patient that restoring his/her tooth will cost 2-3K.
