Man some of these flights are expensive! over $600 per pop. Anyone else out there running into some expensive flights, redeye flights, layovers? Well, hopefully its worth it! lol

does anyone know if a 1 hour layover is enough time to make a flight at Charlotte airport? Can you even just drive to Charlotte or are the two tickets attached? It's cheaper to buy the connecting flight rather than the direct one out of Charlotte.

Yeah, each interview for me is averaging about $850 with hotels. It's getting expensive 🙁.

1 Hour is usually enough time for connections, unless you're changing terminals or if you have to re-check any luggage or go through security/customs again. I'm not taking any chances, so I'm booking flights with at least 2 hour layovers (if I'm early or on time, then i'll ask to fly standby for an earlier flight)..i've been screwed over a couple times before for not having enough time between flights.

I've only had 2 interviews so far, and I've spent ~500 dollars in total. I recommend super cheap motels near the school and taking the public transportation when you can, such as in Boston or New York. Taxis rang me up 80 dollars by itself.

That's incredible. :wow: I flew to Pitt for just under $400, stayed with a student host (who also picked me up from the airport and took me to the school, albeit an hour early), and had practically zero costs other than flight. I flew to UNLV for $140, stayed with family of a friend who I flew down with who was also interviewing the same day, rental car added $60. Flew to Phoenix for $200, stayed with my distant in-laws, and rental car added another $60. Add in some food/gas here and there... not too bad at all. How are you guys spending so much? Are you staying at the Ritz and rolling up to your interviews in a Bentley?

I don't think my experience is necessarily an anomaly, you just need to utilize ALL your resources like family/student hosts/public transportation which will cut out hotel and possibly rental car costs.

A good option for people to use is priceline's name your own price. A friend of mine was able to get a rental car for $7 in Vegas. Of course, with all the other taxes and fees it was still like $35, but the base price was $30 less.

So far I've spent roughly $5,000 on interview costs (flight, ground transport, hotel). I always fly Southwest and I have earned enough rewards points to get me a couple free flights. Don't forget to mention the schools name to get a discount on hotels. Also, meet people at the interview to split ground transportation costs on the way back to the hotel/airport.

With 11 interviews I'm not surprised 👍 Schools must love your extracurriculars. I didn't think there was enough time in the day to do all that--props.
