Do anyone has any idea of oral surgery externship at UCSF?

Is this oralsurgery externship any different from AEGD & GPR programs?

I always have a doubt in my mind that what is the use of doing this externship & AEGD & GPR programs? Why not do DDS or MS in clinicals directly & start our practise

Can some one enlighten?
