My question is will their be any leniency on the part of Medical schools as it relates to involvement in EC's for the next 1 or 2 application cycles. I ask this because as like many of us on this forum many of my EC's were derailed due to COVID-19 and I am a bit concerned that I will fall short with my EC goals by the time I apply in ~2022 and that will count against me. Thank you!

I'd expect there will be some leniency regarding specific types of volunteering -- ex. typical hospital volunteering. 'The usual' opportunities may be harder to find, but there's so much more you can be doing that your more enterprising colleagues will seek out. Things like meals on wheels, crisis hotlines, online tutoring, health screenings, contract tracing -- Even stocking shelves at a grocery store can show you're doing your part.

Don't do nothing. It'll end up looking and sounding like a feeble excuse.

Why should they? It's a seller's market, and even in the age of COVID, there are still venues to do, like Meals on Wheels, or being a poll worker (which normally relies upon retired folks). Also check in with your local houses of worship.
