I'm on the waitlist for a school, but not getting my hopes up about getting accepted. I'm looking for extracurriculars to enhance my application in the upcoming cycle. How specific should volunteer experiences be to PT? I've been contacted about a hospital volunteer opportunity which involves patient transport and office work, but I'm not sure how beneficial this would be for my application. Any comments appreciated, thanks!

Hey! In my opinion, if the volunteer/extracurricular experiences are both diverse and meaningful to you, then you can really do anything. For example, I was a volunteer assistant coach for a Girls On The Run team and served on the exec board for two different student organizations (one of them was PT club and the other way my sorority). They are all organizations I care about a lot, and it gave me a very well rounded experiences. Keep in mind that specific PT volunteer experiences are counted in observation hours and are not allowed to be entered into the extracurricular section, but of course having more observation hours definitely makes your application stronger as well
