I know getting into a specialization residency depends on your grades, board scores, and being "involved". What are the specific ways to be involved in D-school? Organizations? Volunteering?

Become interested/involved in activities for dental students offered by the specialty in question.

There are other general organizations as well, like the American Student Dental Association or you could get involved with a dental fraternity.

Your school may also have volunteer programs (ie. community outreach) that you can get involved in. Also, there's always research. You don't want to overload yourself with extracurriculars, though, because you're going to need a lot of that time for studying.
