I cried as soon as I got home bc during the interview I could see it on his face that I sucked...so yeah pple don't make it after a really good interview so yeah its obvious that I won't get it...I don't kno why I'm saying all this here but I guess I just needed some mental support

Hey, it will be ok! They KNOW you are super nervous, so don't give up all hope. DId you apply to multiple schools? This first one means you know what you need to work on. 🙂

U did the interview at the one that did not accept me even for interview. so at least you are not on sinking boat 😉

anyways,

I'm sorry to say this but if you did interview that poor, you might have a lot less chance to get in that school. But I see you applied many other schools still, so here is what you need to do.

1. do some mock interview with your family, friends, or even with mirror. Practice basic questions on SDN while you are driving, working out, or even pooping

2. watch some good video on youtube about interview portion. by watching multiple interviews, you will see what you need to do better

3. don't get scared too much. most interviewers know that people will get nervous.

just practice and practice..then you will be fine.

I did practice like everyday, even in my car (driving to work and stuff)
but yeah I got 4 more interviews to go... I just wished that VCU was my last interview

Yea, You just got to practice. Just write out how you would want to answer it in essay format and practice. You'll sound better during the interview. Going over the interview question list for the specific schools are extremely helpful. The same questions come up year after year.

yeah thats what I did but at the actual interview I had like nervous attack... I did answer all the questions tho... if I didn't have shaky voice and stuff .... I don't think my answers were bad or anything it was just how I presented myself! 🙁

Ahh it's OK. What I did last year that helped a lot was I planned interviews from where I wanted to go least to most. By the time I got to my top choices I got my interview down. You should apply more schools even though VCU was your top choice.

Although it seems bad now, it's a good experience for you. I can bet that you will never mess up an interview again.

In a couple years you'll look back on this and say "I dodged a bullet. Thank God I didn't get into pharmacy school."

Seriously, you are fine. They understand how people are nervous. I have interviewed for Dentistry 2 years in a row and never got off the wait list. IMO, I thought I did well the 2nd time and okay the first time. This year, I decided to interview for Pharmacy, and it was very casual interview. Not even one hard question which surprised me.

Also, google search Pharmacy Interview questions. There is a good link to the most common questions asked. This could be applied to any health career.

Great advice. SDN also has a subsection dedicated to interview questions specific for your school as well.

I'm not sure if you're making the right decision, especially since it seems you were so close to getting into Dentistry.

My advice? Fake it. You can pretend anything for 30 minutes, right? Then fake your confidence. You have come too far and worked too hard to let a little interview hold you back. Practice a LOT and when you have your next interview, just be confident that you know what you're doing. Make your handshake a little more firm, make eye contact a little bit more. Smile a little! Try to not look like you're fate is in their hands, even if it is. If your voice starts shaking, pause, clear your throat a little(which gives you a couple of seconds to regroup), and start again. Just pretend that your voice was shaking because you had a tickle in your throat. At my interview, one lady who worked for the school said to all of us, "Now don't be nervous. You're here to interview us as much as we're here to interview you. We want to make sure it's the right fit." So go in thinking "I have tons of options for pharmacy school. Let me chat with these people and see if this is the right one." (Whether or not it's true.) It worked for me. I am an introvert but you couldn't tell it at my interview. Be sure to ask them a couple of questions. I only applied to one school and knew I had to nail the interview. And the school called me the next day to let me know I had been accepted. Good luck!

I do not see why an interview would be difficult for you.......Out of my 6+ interviews I have encountered only one question that gave a seconds pause and it was "What are three words your parents would use to describe you and why?", and the only reason I took pause was to give them some good sounding BS. Seriously b'sing your way through questions like that is the only way to be successful. Be honest, but questions like that just deserve bs as an answer. Odds are that you will not get in unfortunately. I had an interview recently with a student who had a bachelor's degree, had a better gpa than me with more volunteer and work experience than me, and an overall superior candidate, and his problem was talking TOO much during the interview. He got rejected and I got accepted. Your answers can also be very simple, and do not have to be what you think that they want to hear. As long as you have excellent English you should be fine on your next interview because you know what to expect.

I actually did the same thing..in the middle of answering the question I said oh I'm sorry can you repeat the question again haha but I at least smiled about it..at that point I was like whatever I can't do worse than this and actually calmed myself down that way lol..like what other people said, they interviewers know you are nervous and are going to mess up. I actually ended up getting into that school that I said can you repeat the question. Have faith because you never know! And even if you get on the wait list there is still a chance you can get accepted later on..
