Hey all not really sure where to post, but my right botton eye lid started twitching like every few minutes today and its really irritaiting. It does it for maybe 3-4 seconds then stops...any ideas?

Thanks

Muscle twitching of "non-pathological" cause is called myokymia - it's most likely that this is what you have. Sometimes people get this if they're under stress - the related hyperventilation alters the pH of the blood, which reduced the amount of soluble calcium ions - this makes muscles more likely to spontaneously contract.

You might want to see your general practitioner - if you have any other symptoms or signs, it might be worthwhile checking your electrolyte levels, but this is likely to be unnecessary. If the condition is disfiguring, botulinum toxin injections are sometimes used.

I get that too... usually when I'm stressed out. Since this is finals time for most of us... that's where I'd look first. 🙂

My eye twitches when someone says something really stupid, but I think that's a different problem. 😉

I read this reply the other day and then this afternoon my eye started twitching a few hours before a presentation. My eye was also red. Presentation went well and as of now, I think the twitching is done too!
