USMLE FA : Leading cause = MCC or not ?

Leading cause could mean one of the leading causes of a disease.

As far as FA is concerned... does leading cause mean the most common cause ?
There are many places where they say leading cause but it is not clear whether this means MCC or not..
Please can someone clarify ?
