Face to Book Time and Study Efficiency

Hey all,

A few months ago I started using the expression "Face to Book Time" as a way of referencing my studying efficiency. For example, if someone was at the library from 2pm to 6pm some would say they studied for 4 hours. This would neglect the times they got up, took a phone call, read articles, watched YouTube/Netflix, texted, etc.

When I'm studying, I know I inadvertently take tons of 2-20 minutes breaks. I'd pin my overall study efficiency at 65% (100 minutes in the library = 65 minutes FTB Time).

What do you folks feel your efficiency is?
 
Honestly, near 100% because I practice the Panic Crunch Time Method*.

Take something important, and leave just barely enough time to do it. You won't find yourself getting distracted by texts and facebook when you have a term paper to finish in the next couple hours!

I dont really bother studying if I can't be 100% focused. Part of this has to do with not wanting to sit inside at a desk for any more hours than needed.

I probably will have to adapt to longer study periods regardless of efficiency in medical school but ideally you are always at 95-100%
 
You created an expression that has to be explained every time you use it instead of just saying 'efficient studying'?

That sounds incredibly inefficient, maybe a 4.3 on the @NotASerialKiller 12-point expression efficiency scale.

More seriously though, it's not like this took weeks of research to come up with. It's just a quick way of gauging how much work I put in on a day-by-day basis.

Regardless, I've spent way too much time clock-watching recently.

That's a good question and hard to answer. For me it was just a combination of wanting it bad enough and knowing it was the only way to guarantee the grades I want. Part of that is also the coursework demanding it of me.
