When filing out FAFSA, it says health care students might want to consider filling in parents' financial info even when one is considered independent. The reason is that some schools use this info to consider you for their own grants & loans.

However, I want to know if anyone has actually benefited from entering the information, as it is rather hard for me to find out this information.

Are you all going to input parents' info?

I will be. I rather avoid the headache of them needing the information later on.

Is there any significant benefit with claiming dependent v independent?

I don't know of any PT programs that offer grants/scholarships based on parent income. It's hard to find programs that offer anything at all, actually. I've never filled out parent info myself, but you could ask the program where you plan to attend if they need it.

Firegirl, FAFSA considers all grad students to be independent. The benefit is that they only look at your income, not your parent's, so you might qualify for more financial aid.
