Ok, so here's my problem. I did really well, like really well, up until about a year and a half ago, when I started having some personal problems. I literally had a 4.0... I failed two classes last year, both I'm retaking for "grade forgiveness" at my school, even though I know that Pharm schools don't do grade forgiveness, so they'll be averaged. These two F's, plus a few B+'s dropped my science GPA down to a 3.51, cumulative GPA to a 3.65. The five credit hour class I'm taking, I will get an A - so that will bring my GPA up a little. However, I will probably get a D or an F again in BIOCHEMISTRY... UGH. And to top it all off, I'm graduating in May. Not sure if I can take it again as a non-degree seeking student, because I'm not planning on applying to Pharm school until later this summer... But, I just wanted some opinions... Have I completely ruined my chances by not being able to pass this class???????? :'( Also, I haven't had too many extracurricular activities, plan on doing AMAZING on the PCAT, and am going to be volunteering in a hospital pharmacy (hopefully) for the next year until I (hopefully) go to pharm school.

I failed two classes during my undergrad too, but I took them again and did really well. Pharmacy schools notice not just the F, but more importantly, the improvement. Don't worry; you'll have the opportunity in your personal statement to account for these instances. Just continue to show improvement!

Also, you can take classes after you graduate--no biggie. I graduated May 2010 from a 4 yr school, and I am currently (Spring2K11) taking Orgo II and Econ as a non-degree seeking student. You'll just have to pay per hour that you're taking at whatever school you decide to take your classes at.

If you're concerned about pharmacy schools seeing your D/F in Biochem, and since you're planning on applying later this summer, try to take biochem this summer, so you can show them the improvement, too.

No, you have not ruined your chances to get into pharmacy school. Don't focus on the past; focus on the future! Good luck!

I would say your chances aren't great. Why do you keep failing classes after having had such a high GPA?

I would not count you out. I have failed two classes twice and still was accepted to 2 pharmacy schools. And I failed those classes during a difficult time in my life so just try again and don't give up! Plus my cGPA is much lower than yours so don't think it's the end of the world.

Just keep trying to beef up other parts of yourself and don't ever give up!
Stay positive and good luck!
