Hi guys,

So when I was in hs, we were told to take dual enrollment courses so that it looks good on our college apps.

So I took 3 college courses and got A, A-, and a F (I missed the final exam due to AP tests). I was so stupid because I got the highest scores on both the midterms, so I thought the professor would contact me to take the final but he did not.

Without the F, I have a 3.5 GPA but with it.... 🙁

So I just found out that AMCAS needs all college transcripts, which my high school guidance counselor or principal never told us. They said it looks good if we pass it but if we fail it, nothing will happen.

So I called the college and asked if I could appeal yesterday and the lady said she will help me and that there's a chance I could appeal the grade.

I'm wondering what will be the consequences if my F grade stays. Thanks!

P.S. I'm going to be a sophomore next year

That's awesome that you can still appeal the grade!

I wouldn't lose sleep over it. It's HS and you have an upward trend so that's great! Just keep doing well.

Appeal based in what? Anyway I wouldn't worry. The F will be averaged into your GPA but you were in HS etc. Keep doing well and it shouldn't be an issue. Why didn't you contact the teacher.? Just a FYI here: Teachers don't usually contact the student to reschedule exams. That's up to the student and you had a great reason for missing the exam.

If it's your only F, you should be fine. You may have an opportunity to explain it, and may even turn it into a positive experience (now you know more time management). I don't mean to sound harsh here, but professors don't "care" about your schedule, you're an adult, you need to proactive with them, and part of school is being able to balance all your activities. One class I took in college, this one guy got a perfect score on all tests, but got a C since he never went to class, and grading was 25% based on attendance. He argued with the professor, who could only say "You're stupid! You can't follow directions." For your future classes, if anything else comes up (say you have an interview for med school), most professors I've had had a make up test system in place, but you need to work it out with them.

Hi, OP here,

I will try to apply to BU Med School through the program for BU students (Modular Medical Integrated Curriculum). No MCAT needed until accepted.

Will the F exclude me from BU Medical School if I have a 3.5-3.6 without the F and summers spent doing research at BU Medical School and shadowing doctors?
