Failing M4 after match

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
OP was told they needed to do something to pass the rotation. They decided to screw around instead. Is this the level of responsibility you want in the doctor that's taking care of your parent, spouse, or child?

This is the same person who goes to CME conferences and spends the entire day drinking coffee in the hotel lobby.
I care more about their ability to practice good medicine. Less or zero about what they do at conferences or post match fourth year.

Some of the most straight edge people at my school struggle to pass exams and boards but they follow all the rules!! Whoopdy ****ing do.

Well first of all, you can't practice good medicine without participating in continuing education (how else do you know what 'good medicine' even is?) .

OP is the type of doctor that refuses to answer emails, won't follow newly developing best practices, does not engage in quality improvement activities, etc. A child with a fancy degree.

Naturally, what will happen in reality is nothing at all. OP will go on to become whatever type of physician they want and make life hell for all administrative and support staff.

You must be exhausted from jumping to so many conclusions, buddy. OP knows they messed up and is looking for advice, and you take a dump on him and characterize him how you think he is based on one mistake.

I feel bad for your classmates that they have to put up with you.

If it makes you feel any better, we don’t like you anymore than you like us. C’est la vie.

Continuing medicine doesn't constitute best practice.
Most emails are a pointless waste of time. Quality improvement is also a mindless buzzword.

Making administration and support staff lives easier is even more unimportant. Administration is a waste of space and a huge contributor to the greatly increasing cost of medical care in this country. Self important tyrants that make up rules that suit them as they go.

"Teamwork is bad, I alone am important!"

Let me guess, straight from college to medical school, zero full time work experience?

Grow up. Frankly I hope this doesn't work out an they expell you or make you repeat 4th year. SOMEONE needs to teach you something about accountability.

"entitled".

They decided to screw around instead.
entitled slackers with Rich mommies and daddies pull stuff like this.
Look, I’m not sitting here saying I didn’t make a big mistake—I’m not out for sympathy. I called myself an idiot and stupid, and am working hard to correct this mistake. If my school chooses to expel or dismiss me because of it, I’ll take the punishment that they decide is just. I am making changes in my life so that I can be a better physician and person, but if it’s not meant to be, I will do what I can to move on.

I dislike responding to this stuff, but feel that I have to because it’s getting out of hand. You actually should meet and get to know someone before you judge them so harshly.

I have actually worked a full time job, and have made it through medical school without other issues of professionalism. My parents don’t support me financially, though I won’t deny I have a loving family, which I’m grateful for. I also have done reasonably well in medical school—and managed to get good evals on my rotations. Research is also a passion of mine, and while I’m fairly dreadful at it, I’ve enjoyed being a part of a project; I will say that I haven’t been involved with QI activities, so I will give you that. I’ve also had clinical depression over the last year, but I imagine that your response will be that I’m using that as an excuse for my entitlement.

You may be harder working, more professional and knowledgeable than I will ever be. But please, don’t judge your patients as you have just judged me.

No offense but you’re the biggest tool I’ve seen in a while

I heard of that Case Western grad who got his degree revoked retroactively due to far more egregious offence (criminal conviction...etc).

Please do share about this guy...

One thing I've read about him is that he jumped out of a moving cab to get out of paying fare

Any update? Did you end up graduating??
