Can anyone comment on what is a fair wRVU threshold for a new graduate in the general cardiology (non-invasive) job market? Or alternatively $/wRVU for Small town/rural location in the Southeast. Thanks!

I was quoted 400K at 8250 wRVU, which brings the $/wRVU compensation to around $48/wRVU. Not sure if that if common scenario, or should the compensation be higher/wRVU be lower?
I've found that it's hard to get substantially more money per wRVU from employers, since it's strictly what they would spend on a physician within a certain specialty. It's calculated based on what the hospital can generate from your productivity and you get a cut of that. Add in some supply and demand forces within your field and that's how you get to the $ you were offered. Some places also have a graded scale so that you make more per RVU if you generate above a certain level, but the difference is usually fairly modest (a few dollars at most). If you want a radically different dollar amount per wRVU, then you would have to look in a different locale.
