I'm about to start Pharm school in 2 weeks and just received my textbooks for the Fall semester. I'm so nervous about how many courses we have to take. My schedule for the fall includes : Intro to Pharmacy, Health Care Delivery Systems, Pharmaceuticals Calculations, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutics and Lab and Anatomy and Physiolgy. OMG, this appears very challenging especially for the first semester.

18 credits i presume

P1 year is easy...wait til you hit the modules in P2 & P3 year

Right there with you Phat. I had orientation this past week and begin real classes on Monday. We have a quiz scheduled for Friday. Good times. But I'd rather have my 18 hours than the 21 that the P2 & P3 students have.

depends where you go... That blanket statement doesn't apply to all of the schools.

I had all that... and MORE in P1 year. P1 year's not bad...

Similar to my schedule..
Pharmaceutics w/ lab, Biochem, "Introductory Pharmacy Experience Program," Patho./Phys., and Western Civilizations (need to finish up Electives)

Healthcare Delivery is next semester

We had 19 hours our first semester and 23 our second. P1 material isn't harder but making the transition into pharm school may have made it more difficult then it should have been.

I'll take those classes over some undergrad classes such as P-Chem, Diff-eq, and Linear Algebra.. There aint no didactic pharmacy class that's really hard..and you being nervous won't help a thing.

I had 12 credits last semester (and 2 of those were kayaking), so I'm really not looking forward to 18...

I agree, a lot of the classes in undergrad were probably just as hard or harder then some of the courses you will take in pharmacy school though thats with only a week under my belt of pharmacy school 😛 but thats the feel that I get. One thing though I think that is different is that the speed and amount of info you get is much more then undergrad -- undergrad is more relaxed even if the material itself has some moments of true difficulty.

Are intro to pharm. and health care delivery 1-credit classes? If so, they're not bad, though it's strange that you take them together. I took pharm. orientation first year of prepharm and health care delivery (or whatever it's called) second year of prepharm (since 0-6 program).

This semester I have physiology I (we don't have A&P together), biochem, clinical pharmacy skills, pharm. calculations, intercultural communication (for a core requirement, since you can spread them out here) and a 2-credit thing where I have to volunteer at a hospital for 32 hours either during the semester or winter break. I think most people's P1 schedule is pretty challenging.

Here is our fall P1

Pharmacology 1
MedChem 1
Pharmaceutics 1
Intro to Pharm
Basic Clinical and Communication skills
Human Values and Professionalism

... but im not worried...😱

I think that everyone thinks their p1 schedule looks bad.

Intro to Pharmacy, Health Care Delivery Systems, Pharmaceuticals Calculations, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutics and Lab and Anatomy and Physiolgy.

I suppose it depends on the instructor, but Biochemistry & Anatomy & Physiology are the 2 that will have lots of memorization. The rest will be a piece of cake. (at least in comparision! 😛 )

P-1 looks like a piece of cake, I've pretty much taken these classes before. 😴

C'mon...biochem? anatomy physiology? Bring on the REAL pharmacy classes!
