Fear of giving up acceptances?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Indeed, schools offer acceptances more than their capacity, meaning that they have already estimated how many accepted students would be matriculating based on their past data. Therefore, even if we let go of our acceptances, it won't make much difference to waitlisted people. Only after may 15, most schools begin to consider waitlisted students.

This point should not be underestimated. Very few schools will be able to offer spots to waitlisters until their offers are accepted or rejected on May 15...waitlist movement before May 15 is very rare...

There seems to be two very different camps on this issue, huh?

Remember those acceptances are YOURS, you earned them. It is not your responsibility to get other people accepted to med school. So hold your acceptances as long as you like. I know I will be doing that with mine. Everybody else can just sit tight till May 15. Mwahaha :meanie:
well thank god there is such thing as karma
