"Graduate and professional school students may borrow up to $20,500 per year from the unsubsidized Federal Stafford loan. The cumulative loan limits are $138,500, including undergraduate debt (and no more than $65,500 in subsidized Federal Stafford loans).
Medical school and health professions students may borrow up to $40,500 per year and have a cumulative loan limit of up to $224,000." https://www.edvisors.com/college-loans/federal/stafford/graduate/

So if you've hit this limit, how will you make up for the remaining cost of attendance? Are there any other federal loans, or low-interest loans, available to medical students?

The number has gone up for med students for $44944 per year. You can take out federal Graduate PLUS loans, which have interest rates based on your credit score, to make up the difference. Graduate PLUS loans are not capped. You can also pursue private loans at your own risk.

Med schools: "Hey guys, fed gov just raised the amount students can take out for loans... you know what that means?"
