I applied and was approved for a fee waiver in november 2011 to take sign up for a 2012 MCAT. How would I apply my fee waiver to my amcas application? How do i know when i can submit? If i submit and only apply to a few schools and later if I want to add schools do i still have to pay more?

It will automatically be applied. Your AAMC/AMCAS user account will automatically know you have the fee waiver. The first 14 schools you add to the app will be free, after that each school will be $34. Most secondaries should be waived.

You may want to confirm you are good for 2012.

The waiver is normally based upon a calendar year, meaning if you were approved last year you may not be set.

Otherwise, when you log into the registration system it will show a fee of $0.

Yeah I was also a little worried about that but I actually did the exact same thing in 2010 and I sent them an email if i was able to use it for a 2011 application. They said I could but i never ended up applying because my mcat was low. So i dont know for sure.

Where do you go see whether or not it is $0?? The only place where I actually see anything about money is the "medical school" tab and at the bottom it shows $194 when I added 2 schools. Does that mean it's not applied or am i looking in the wrong section? thanks

That means you're not approved for the waiver yet. I'm approved, and I added 14 schools and the bottom displayed $0 until I added the 15th school.

How do I apply my fee waiver to secondaries? Are the fees also automatically waived?

Some schools waive it automatically when the data is transmitted from AMCAS, which will usually be indicated on their online secondary. Others will require proof of the waiver (usually through a copy of the email you receive as confirmation). One or two still require a fee even with the assistance.
