Hey guys,
Do you think Fellows should provide ANY grossing at all ?
I think this is Scut work at least for me. Fellows should learn how to be an attendings, they should attend the faculty meatings, do QA/QC, tumor boards, review slides and frozens, do reasearch and publish papers. They should supervise the juniors and show them how the things are done ( frozens, triage etc..etc.). The fellows should provide specialtly conferences and journal clubs.
My advice to all of the residents who are looking for a fellowships: Choose your program wisely it is good to have a good programm in the CV but it is much better to get a great education cuz it will be your butt on the line not your CV...

I'm assuming you mean scut. The two surg path fellowships that I have seen first hand only involve somehwere in the neighborhood of 6 wks of grossing for the year, also including frozens. If the rest of the year is going to provide for some decent experience, I can't see how this would be that bad, but that's just me.

Im doing 6 days a month Fr.S.+grossing after 5pm. 2 days are with junior resident which is again me doing all of the stuff .
