I don't actually see a hemepath fellowship "listed below" - so I'm not sure which one you are referring to. I did hear that USCF has an unexpected opening in their hemepath fellowship this year (2012-2013). I've also heard of a few available neuropath fellowships - The "Longwood" NP program at BWH has an opening from 2013-2015 and there is a new NP program starting at University of Michigan with an opening 2012-2014. I think Vanderbilt has a peds fellowship spot available (not sure if the opening was this year or next). I've also heard about a lot of unexpected openings available in various non-accredited fellowships (i.e. surg path, GU, renal, GI, breast, etc.). Hope that helps.
From what I've seen there are always pathology fellowship openings. Only they're sporadic and not usually at the name-brand programs, which tend to fill years in advance (but are also at risk of becoming abruptly open at the last minute as better opportunities present themselves to would-be fellows). Also, unfortunately, I'm not aware of a good, consistently up-to-date resource on finding them.
There really isn't a good clearing-house for such things. Occasionally stuff will show up on pathoutlines and in postings by BU Path. Ask your current PD to keep you in the loop. They will often get e-mails from other PDs with unexpected openings. And most importantly, start checking websites and e-mailing PDs of individual programs you'd be interested in doing a fellowship at whether they have any unfilled positions and/or to contact you if anything does unexpectedly open up. Just check/ask if the fellowship is ACGME accredited. Basically, only the speciality-boarded fellowships are ACGME accredited (though not all), and a few programs have surg path (aka selective path) that is also ACGME accredited. Good luck!
