For all you academic-related guys out there,

I'm currently interviewing for pain fellowships and have a few interviews under my belt, with a couple of offers. However these are somewhat time-sensitive and I have to make up my mind. Problem is, I haven't heard back yet from the program I liked the most. I am worried that by waiting to hear back from them, I may lose my other spots. Is it kosher to let that program know about my situation? The program director seemed like a very nice, approachable guy.
Any advice, especially from those in the academic world, is appreciated.

Just a resident here.

I know that a guy at my program (chief) received an early offer to a Pain Fellowship. He was upfront with them and told them that he was looking into some more programs around my institution and woudl get back to them ASAP. They actually let him do it. So...does it happen...yes.

Go ahead and let the program that you're interested in most know of your situation. If they really liked you, and want you in their program, they'll be glad you asked them, and I'm pretty sure, they won't have a problem letting you know earlier for this situation.
