1. Say you attend a conference, to present an abstract. The manuscript is still in the works. The abstract gets published with a bunch of other abstracts from THAT specific conference.
What do you put on AMCAS as category? "Publication" or "Presentation/Posters." Which is more meaningful? FYI: I already have a few Publications on the Post Sec Exp that are actual articles, as opposed to this abstract.

2. I worked in a Zoo once and did some really cool stuff working on elephants and bears. It was my only "lab research" position, and I am not even sure if I can speak a lot about it since all I remember is doing RadioImmuno Assays. I do however, have the info about the study on hand. Do I talk about it in Post Sec Exp? I have tons of clinical, no lab research...this is the only one.

3. If you do 499 research (undergrad research), for 3-6 months, is it worth talking about in Post Sec Exp?

4. I got a scholarship to go to my undergrad. All expenses paid for my first year. Should I write about it?

5. Got ackowledged on a paper a million years ago that got presented at another conference. Worth mentioning? I suppose since i have other pubs where I am an actual author, I should just let this one go, although it was my first. :(

Thanks for your help!!

2. I mentioned all of my research and volunteer info under post secondary experiences.

3. It can't hurt to mention it.

4. I wouldn't mention it because it was given for high school accomplishments...(unless you're lacking in the awards dept and need to fill up space).

5. Yes mention it. I'd mention every pub where your name is mentioned. Just be sure to look over the paper and be familiar with what was discovered etc.

1. I think that it is in the poster/presentation category until it is actually submitted for publication.

2. The zoo is cool and interesting. I bet you a dollar it will come up in a positive light in your interviews. Definitely include it.

3. I would definitely include it.

4.I too got a scholarship for 4 years of tuition, room and board. Though it was awarded in high school, I still think it is significant. It also explains why I went to Podunk State University.

5. I would not include this unless you are an author. This is especially true if you have other actual pubs to put on your app. It doesn't make your application stronger or more interesting, and it looks like fluff to me.

Tweetie--

Sorry you had to do RIAs. At least you got to do them in the zoo :)

I'd mention every paper your name is on if I were you.

Undergrad scholarships are tricky. I got one for my freshman year that was based on my HS grades. I ended up eaving it out because
a) the other 15 things I had were better, and
b) it's kind of "secondary" in nature, since my HS grades got me the $$
I assume it's the same with your first year scholarship, so include it only if you don't have 15 other post-secs that kick ass.

I'm sure no matter what you do you'll be fine. I agree that the zoo is golden. You'll get asked about that for sure. :)

Take care and submit soon!
