Hi everyone! Submitted my primary a few weeks ago and secondaries are currently trickling in. However, I'm a bit worried that my list may be a bit top-heavy. All and any advice on this would be appreciated!
sGPA: 3.71
cGPA: 3.71 (upward trend)
MCAT: 518 (129/127/130/132)
NY Resident, ORM
Ivy League undergrad
Research: 1500 hours (2 clinical experiences with one pending pub, several posters, and senior honors thesis)
Clinical: 200 hours clinical volunteering, 100 hours shadowing
Non-clinical: 250 hours various local philanthropic organizations dealing with homelessness, hunger, etc,
Leadership: Founder of medtech company, TA, editor for a few on campus papers, Business Manager of consulting firm, Eagle Scout
MD:
Top/High: Harvard, Stanford, Michigan, Duke, Columbia, Northwestern, Cornell, Sinai, NYU, Emory (I added about 3-5 of these as sort of a "why not?")
Mid: Dartmouth, BU, Brown, Einstein, Rochester, Georgetown
Target: Upstate, Downstate, Buffalo, Stony Brook
(Absolutely no idea about the new NYU Long Island school)
As I indicated above, I originally had around 15 schools and thought it was fair to be a bit optimistic when I got my MCAT back so I tacked on a few more reach schools. I'm hoping that my targets in the SUNY schools will be enough of a "cushion" to let me focus on the other schools. Thoughts on this?
