I just sent in my application today. My transcript was sent to AACOMAS on the 15th so hopefully they should recieve it in the next day or two. Anyways, it will prolly take 3 weeks for my app to get to all the schools that I am applying to, so what do I need to be doing in the mean time? MCAT scores are not going to made public until Oct. 7th, so I will contact AAMC then to send my scores to AACOMAS. And I have all ready spoken to professors and others who are going to write me letters of reccomendation. Speaking of which, does each person who is going to be writing me a letter has to send it to every school, or is their a centralized system that is in place?? I applied to 6 schools so if they have to send them to the indiv. schools, I should probably provide them with envelopes and stamps right (or atleast offer to do so)? So what else do I need to get done before my app reaches it's final destinations?

Start riding your letter writer's tails now 🙂 You're going to want some time to spare with those and sometimes things don't always go as smoothly as planned. There is a centralized system many people use (interfolio.com), it's not free but it spares your writers the task of printing 15 copies.

I provided my letter writers with addressed envelopes and stamps to three schools and one to interfolio.com. I only turned in secondaries for three schools, and I wanted the LOR's to get there faster so I bypassed interfolio for those three. The fourth letter went to my interfolio account in case I need to turn in more secondaries later in the cycle.

I don't know if AACOMAS is picking up pace yet with the applications, but you'll probably need to 'make a few calls' to ensure that your application gets processed in a 'timely' manner (AKA ASAP). It took them awhile to even acknowledge my transcripts (I finally called and they 'found them'), and then took longer for them to process and send.

In summary:
(1) Keep on your writers about sending the letters
(2) Keep on AACOMAS about your application
(3) Find out secondary prompts to the schools you're applying to and get a head start on the essays. That way you can have a quick turn-around time when you get them.

How do you know the MCAT scores will be in Oct 7???
