Financial Aid Before Acceptance

Hey guys,

I don't know much about financial aid and I haven't been accepted to any schools yet, but if I will need to apply for financial aid, are there any forms or paperwork that I would need to fill out before hearing back from schools (such as FAFSA)? Or will I be able to do everything after I am (hopefully) accepted somewhere?

Additionally, does applying for financial aid impact the possibility of getting admitted in any way? I am just wondering if I should be filling out the FAFSA right now and putting all schools that I am still being considered for on the FAFSA. Thanks for any advice that you guys may give!

Do your FAFSA now. Deadline is April and most schools require it for any type of financial aid (including government loans). It should not affect your admission decisions (as far as I know - I think it would be discriminatory to do otherwise).
