I just began looking into dental schools. I, like many others, do not have the money at the moment to pay for dental school and will need to take out loans.

Do dental students get need-based aid from the government like undergrads do? For example, an undergrad may get 40k of their 60k covered with grants which do not need to be repaid. The remaining 20k must be paid by loans, assuming no money in the bank. Is this similar to dental school or upon acceptance, do I have to take out 90k in loans if thats the cost for that year or is some of it covered by grants?

Unless you do HPSP or NHSC or obtain a substantial scholarship (unlikely), your dental education will be funded through Direct/Direct PLUS loans in which you are allowed to borrow up to the COA.
