This is a commonly advised interview tactic. The problem is that med schools don't supply the identity of the interviewer/s, at least not by default. I would love to stalk though, and I think it might be immensely beneficial. Has anyone done it? How?

LOL? Don't know those guys, his name is Robert, and I'll have to ask him about bill/kelly/george.

Ha, I've tried this, but to limited success. UofMich posts their entire admission committee online, so I spent some time searching for each name so I at least knew what they did (major research interests, specialty). Unfortunately their list wasn't really complete, and I didn't know anything about my interviewers.

At some (most?) schools, they give you the names of your interviewers long before the interview. If there's a break in the schedule, you could find/bring a computer and see what you could about them...

I don't really think it's going to help you at all, though... They may just be scared of you if you come in saying "Hi Doctor Jocobs, I loved your paper from last year, I was really interested in your findings with gamma-IFN. How's your wife Laura doing, I heard she had the flu last month..."

yeah i too had michigan and found that the list did not include all of my interviewers, and there was no way to know beforehand. i havent had any schools give me my interviewers' identities yet, i would like it though. im considering requesting, im wondering if anyones done this anywhere with any success.

stalking to that extent and flaunting it would be spooky. but it would help a lot to read up on their field so you might be able to broach it in conversation. it also gives an indication of their personality and what kinds of things they might like and dislike. it would help a lot i think, information is power. they get to read up on us beforehand, so its only fair

I agree that information=power

I tried to request interviewers' names and was shot down. I have since googled them all, read a brief bio on their interests, and think it would have helped to have a general idea of who they were before I went in to talk to them.

yeah no kidding. i cant believe they shot it down, makes no sense. who cares if you get a little edge over other interviewees, it should be your reward for displaying initiative. tsk, med schools...
