Hi,

I have palmar hyperhidrosis (I have hyper sweat glands on my hands, so they tend to sweat excessively almost all the time- no it isn't because I am a nervous reck). However, I am scared that I will not be able to take the MCAT since it requires fingerprinting- when I had to have an electronic fingerprinting of what should have been a 2 minute process I had spend hours going back and forth (5 6 times) to take my fingerprint however, all attempts were unsuccessful. I don't know what to do.
Thanxs for all your help 😍

I would call/contact the AAMC (who sets the regulations for the test) and see if there is an alternate way to verify your ID or get a waiver. If that leads to a dead end, I would contact the testing center at which your MCAT is scheduled. Hopefully one of these two will be able to help you!

i never got fingerprinted for the MCAT... find place that dosent do it

so even if you wipe your hands on your shirt or pants or something, they're wet within seconds? maybe you should put antiperspirant on your fingertips, just for that day. i imagine it should work, but i wouldn't really know.

Yeah I heard that some doctors recommend putting antiperspirant on hands of people with hyperhidrosis, maybe you can ask your doctor about that?

Fingerprints are required. I'm surprised they didn't at least make you take a traditional fingerprint if they didn't have scanners.

hey, don't worry too much about it. i don't have your condition, but for whatever reason, they couldn't read my fingerprints on test day . yes, i never made it back to the computer when the break time finishes, but it doesn't deduct that time from the next section.

Same thing happened to me. They just couldnt read my fingerprint, so I had to sign in and out. It NEVER affected the amount of time i had available to spend on each section. everyone in the testing room where i took the exam was on different schedules, so there was no sort of back up that would have impeded me from signing in and walking to my seat.

This is not something to stress about at all 😉

Don't *sweat* it. It is not a big deal. When I took my test, the fingerprints came up as belonging to someone else, and after 3 or 4 tries, they just gave up and made me sign in and out the old fashioned way. No worries!
