Hello,
I have a question regarding my completion of classes. I'am planning to complete my requirements for my AA by this fall. A friend of mine told me to hold one class(AA requirement) till I complete all my pharmacy pre-requisites. Is it true that if I finish my AA requirement before completing the pharmacy pre-requisites, my school would ask me to graduate and would not let me take any other pharmacy pre-requisite classes.

And one more question, I tried to start my Pharmcas application and I really have no idea about freshman/sophomore, junior/senior years. What does all these mean.......help....please

Thanx

As far as completing your AA - if you complete your AA - you are, from that point forward - a non degree seeking student at a community college. What this means, is that you are no longer receive financial aid in the same way. This will not matter if you are not on financial aid - if you are, you may have to work something out with admissions.

I had the same problem. I graduated with my honors AA in Spring 06 - but was not going to start at UF until Fall 06 - I signed up for 12 hours, and was told my financial aid would not cover it. I wrote a letter to the VA office explaining that the classes were going towards my BS - and then they issued my financial aid. You may have to do the same.

- as far as fresh/soph vs junior senior. If you took anything at a CC - they are freshmen / soph level classes. Classes with 3000 & 4000 level are considered upper level or Junior / Senior classes.

My CC had a 150% rule. You need to finish your AA in 150% of the credit timeframe. Meaning, you could take 90 credits (60 credits needed for the AA + 50%) before you were cut off from financial aid.

Physics 1 & 2 + Precalc + Calc + Bio 1 & 2 + Gen Chem 1 & 2 + Org Chem 1 & 2 + A&P 1 & 2 ate up about 60 credits, so finishing in the allotted credit time was very tricky. I had to take out some loans and luckily got a scholarship which helped me squeak by.

So, it appears then if you are on finaid, then this may be an issue. Otherwise, it shouldn't be. I got my AS in Chemistry in 2004, my AS in Biology in 06, and still continued taking classes until last semester. My CC had no issues whatsoever. But I wasn't on scholarship, loans or anything, so that's probably why I had no idea about this other stuff in the background.

I don't have financial aid as I'am neither a green card holder nor a citizen. So from what I understand I can still take classes at my CC even after I'am done with my AA.
Thanks for all your responses.
As far as the freshman/sophomore.....senior/junior......now I get it. Thanx aboveliquidice.🙂
