So our school gave us our first COMSAE today (form A I think) as a practice. I scored a 549. I was hoping to score over a 600 but oh well. The next one is in March...need a 450 to be eligible to take the COMLEX and over a 600 to be excused from a Kaplan review course in May. I am trying to get a 600 and skip the Kaplan review. I recently started doing UWorld and have been doing Pathoma, FA, and COMBANK for a while. Any tips on further improving my score? I am also planning on taking the USMLE.

You are in good shape to get out of that review course. It's still very early. Just keep grinding out UFAP and read through the green book 2x.

I would add sketchy micro. If you aren't feeling organized enough, consider doing DIT.

Im not at a DO school but from my understanding 549, w/o any studying, is amazing. Did you just kill it in the first two years?

Micro was my best section on this test in addition to pharm. But you are right I need to start to look at the green book. Thank for your advice!

Haha thanks I did pretty good. I always kept up with the lectures, quizzes, and exams, and ended up with good grades. I wasn't sure if that would translate into good board scores.

J/c but how many hours did you typically put into studying outside of class and then on weekends?

I am a 2nd year.
This is what I usually do. Go to class --> listen to lectures (most of the time) --> review those powerpoints couple of times after coming back home --> read pathoma/fa/do some practice questions (COMBANK + KAPLAN - usually 15-30 Qs/night) related to the topic covered that day in lecture or the systems we are covering that block. Repeat the whole week. Some days, I might not have time to do pathoma/fa/practice qs due to taking too long to go over lectures. We usually have quiz every friday (lectures from prior thursday to current week wednesday - usually 16 lectures); thursday night I go over all those lectures again couple more times. Integrated exam every three weeks/two weeks (total of 3 exams/block); the weekend of the exams - I will go over all the lectures again couple more times and review pathoma/fa. I have been following this schedule since first year minus the fa/pathoma/practice qs (which I started this year), I have had straight A's except one or two B's (in OMM!) here and there.

I posted my study plan in an earlier thread.

Review neuro, ob/gyn, micro/antimicrobials, and omm before taking it next time. I focused on these the first time taking a comsae in February and hit well over 600.

Thank you! Yeah we haven't covered GI, endocrine, or repro systems yet and I felt like 20-30% of the exam was on those.
