What are the typical classes required for the fist year of Dental school?
at UF they are:
Fall
Gross Anatomy
Dental Anatomy
Human Development (Embryology, dental histology, childhood development)
Principals of Oral Health Management (Nutrition, dental history, public health)
Spring
Biochemistry
Physiology
Histology
Neuroanatomy
Operativive Dentistry 1 w/ Biomaterials
Oral Health Management 2 (Psych, Pain Analysis, Ethics)
Summer
Occlusion
Operative Dentistry 2 and 3
Microbiology
Radiology
Foundations of Patient Care (Assisting)
the first two semesters doesn't even seem like dental school...just seems like you are a super science major....doesn't really get into much dentistry until the first summer.
Oh yeah, and second semester is hell. Difficult, uninteresting, and not very related to practical, clinical dentistry.

So, how is the yearly tuition going to cover the summer as well. or do you have to pay additional tuition for the summer. appreciate your comments.

On a related note, WHY do dental schools make you take a summer course? isn't four years enough to teach someone general dentistry( without taking summer classes)? it is really expensive for some of us.
