I haven't been accepted to any of these schools yet but I want to be prepared to make decisions *crossing fingers*

Say I got into all 3 schools, what would you do? I want to live and settle in Miami but would spend the first 6 months or so living for free in Ft Lauderdale so the commute is a consideration. I'm interested in teaching and academia eventually so I'm worried that going to a school like Nova won't give me valuable experience there.

Nova is ~83k for tuition, no significant commute
Fiu is ~80k + 30 min commute
UM is ~95k but tuition is locked in, 45-60 min commute

I'm actually on the same boat...but I'm going to wait and make that decision when the time comes...whichever will save you the most money should be your choice, but in the end this is something you should decide on your own

I know, I know. It's all I want to talk about with anyone though haha. I wish the south FL schools had bigger price differences because it makes it so hard with a 10-15k price difference!

If you are interested in teaching, most programs require either a Ph.D. (maybe a D.Sci.) or clinical specialization. A DPT is a clinical degree, while a Ph.D. is a research degree. Most Ph.D.'s that I have seen among PT faculty are in exercise physiology or education, but that is based on a very, very small number of people.

I do not think that your specific PT program would matter, but I am not sure.
