Five days before the test, just took NBME 7. Is it worth it to take the rest?

Got five days before the test here. Goal is mininum 235, with 240 being ideal. But I know reality can be harsher than the dream.

Just took form 7 NBME and got 240. While I am excited, I have also noticed a pattern in this forum that most people score about well in 10 points below the form 7 in my score range. I have 200qs left in Uworld (avg 70+% with recent ones getting on high 70-80%).

I keep hearing how some questions from practice NBME test keeps coming back and back. Though it is small numbers I am sure, I wonder if it is large enough to make a difference for adding extra few points. My bottom line question to you guys is how many questions you felt were repeated in the actual exam from the practice sets from NBME? In my next five days, I have been planning to just religiously memorize FA...but perhaps spending half of the day just to take a practice test everyday may help better?

Some thought would be appreciated.

I would say don't bother taking another NBME. You are pretty close to your test, so your score is unlikely to change a whole lot and even if it did, there is little you could do about it now. If you want to do one other test, do a UWSA so you get some feedback and the correct answers. People always say they get the "exact" same question from NBME x, but they didn't. Just focus on FA and do one of the UWSA if you feel the need.

Thanks man. I guess that's what I will do then. From your experience, which one was better for score predictor? UWSA or NBME?

NBME 7, I recall seeing at least 3 questions that were exactly the same as my NBME. I wouldn't recommend taking any more now, unless you have first aid memorized forward and backwards at this point. I made that mistake, 2 days before my exam and was looking over the NBME and what I got wrong rather than focusing on first aid or other HY review points.

I thought they were both good predictors (for me). I took the NBMEs further out (7 weeks and 4 weeks; 255 and 260) and UWSA2 around a week out (265) and got a 267. I have friends who used only NMBEs, however, and scored lower on their actual test (sometimes 15-20 points lower), so it can vary.

This is the only thing that I would be afraid of happening to me. :scared: Were your friends consistently scoring that much higher on NBMEs then had their real score drop so low? Or was there any chance it was a fluke?

I guess at this point, I can either go ahead and take the test in few days, or really give myself a bit more time to study, though this is not something I am that enthused about doing. But if I can't trust the "official" diagnostic test, how can I assess myself?

H2DO, thanks for the input. I think that is mostly what I am going to do. With that having been said, reading 100+ pgs of FA a day seems a bit of brain crash to me lol. I definitely hope these things stay in my head.

I don't know what happened to be honest. Some people stayed right within their score range, and others dropped. I guess there is no real way to tell why that happened, but they were all in a fairly high range to begin with.
