Hello, I'm a 2nd year med student and USNA grad with a few questions about flight surgery. When I was first applying to med school I was told that nearly everyone does a GMO tour of some sort before residency. Now I'm hearing that they are phasing this out, is this true? If so, does anyone know what percentage they are allowing to do GMO tours? And as for flight surgery, how competitive is it? What kind of things do they take into account for acceptance into FS school besides being in good physical shape? And finally, do they typically have more billets for after FS school available than students, or is it like UMO school where they have 12 billets for 12 students?
