Florida Schools Application Thread (2009) Part 3

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
That and the other part of the Bottomline is that even if you wanted a little time longer, you need to contact EACH individual school that you want to hang onto past May 15th for an extension. sometimes they will grant it. But you need to call them and make sure they ok it otherwise yu may lose all of them.

It seems from another thread, the early to mid july starting schools (CCLCM, CWRU, and RFU) also can have the April 15th deadline.

RFU is Aug this year.

Oh ok. Believe me I haven't the slightest desire to hold onto these acceptances any longer than I have to -- the sooner I can let go of the schools I'm not going to go to, the happier I will be planning out the rest of my life. I was just curious what the penalties were.

Withdrew from FSU a few days ago and probably Miami soon. I'm 99% sure I'll be at USF in the fall. I gotta start looking for places to live (and possible roommates?) And i've got no idea where to start, yikes.

On that note, do any any of you have your final decisions on what school you are going to?

Anyone in here going out of state or all of you staying in state??

No final decisions, unfortunately. Not sure if I'll be instate or out of state.

Just waiting on financial aid packages.

Looong waiting process for financial aid.

To everyone on waitlists: I'm sorry I'm holding your acceptance but they're holding my finaid package 🙁 Hopefully you will get my seat soon.

where ya headed in the fall?

I am nearly certain that I will be at USF this August. I am about to withdraw from the Miami campus WL soon, and I have been "on hold" at UF since Oct. 15. Truthfully, I am ready to leave Gainesville though...four years and four national championships later, I think I am ready for something new. 😀 I have seen the financial aid offer from USF, and it is not pretty as is expected. Oh, and like guju mentioned, the tuition and fast-paced nature of Miami are not appealing to me.

I didn't get a financial aid offer from USF...? eeks...what's going on? Did we have to fill out more forms?

I think with UF the way to get off their hold list is to update them constantly with anything new, i.e. transcripts, new activities, etc. They tend to put most people on hold til this month when they usually give decisions of reject, waitlist, or out right accept. That's how it was in past years from what I saw with friends' experiences.

I suppose you could say it doesn't matter to me whether or not I get in to UF as I have only updated them once with my fall grades.

Hey guys. I am new to SDN, so I dont much about it....It seems like you all know a lot about this whole process, so i wanted to get your opinion about my current situation. I applied to all the Florida schools this year, and interviewed at UF, USF, and UCF. I havent been accepted anywhere, and am on the waitlist at USF and just found out I was on the "alternate" list at UF (I am also on the waitlist at UCF, but know that I am in the middle tier and thus not going to receive an invitation for this year). So, I was wondering what my chances are of getting into either of those schools off the waitlist? Also, I obviously would want to reapply to the schools again for the 2010 cycle, so should I go ahead and start that process or wait to hear from the schools first? Any advice would help...thanks.

When did you find out about the UF waitlist?

I am still waiting for a decision =(

ugh...UF says all decisions would be out today.

I've been waiting since January for any good news at all (interview invite or anything). I think that's caused me more damage from stress than any drug I could possibly do

I found out about UF today, so I would think you should also be hearing something from them shortly.

and THANK YOU for you advice. Those are along the same lines as I was thinking. Hopefully, Ill have some good news later in may. thanks again.

I got into UF yesterday after being "on hold" since 10/15. guju is right in that they do strongly recommend that you continually update them. I only sent in my Fall transcripts so I never thought that I would have been accepted. I am leaning towards USF at the moment but more prayer and thought will be needed.

Any more Florida news??? I miss the Florida thread. Congrats to all who have begun their studies at FSU!! :luck:

You folks coming to the Miami campus, feel free to throw me a PM and I will give you my contact info. I am about to become MS2 at Miami, and I will happy to help you all out. And anyway, more friends are always nice. 😀
