That has been something I have been wondering as well. However, I don't think it will completely affect FSU because a. FSU has other facilities in Pensacola, working on getting sites in Daytona and Ft. Pierce, and also has sites in Sarasota for clinicals.

FSU additionally has some sites in Georgia and is working on getting more in Tally.

I also don't think they'll lose their affiliation with ORMC right away even if they do. Or who knows, maybe they won't lose affiliation at all. Other places have had multiple schools using the same hospitals as teaching sites. For instance, I believe that TGH has both USF and UTampa students doing clinical rotations for nursing school there. There is also a couple schools in NOLA that use some of the same facilities. so they will probably accomodate. They also have to accomodate for those people who do away rotations in Orlando from Gville as well.
 
Besides the Army and Navy...what other groups/ organizations pay for med school in exchange for a couple of years of employment. Is there one for those who want to go into primary care and work in underserved areas?

So, does anyone know the earliest that someone has been accepted off of USF's waitlist in previous years? Not being able to plan this summer is driving me nuts! I hate waitlists 🙁

I feel your pain! I am also waiting on USF's waitlist to move as well.

REL told me not to expect anything to move until at least May 1st, but he didn't give that as a specific day. Basically the waiting list will start to move sometime in early to mid May for USF.

I know that FSU told us that they will start taking people off hold after April 15th, which would be today! 🙂

At UM, the alternate list is the same as the waitlist right? I know some schools differentiate between the two. I just got a letter from UM@FAU saying Ive been placed on the alternate list. Thanks😀

Yah its a waitlist. Same with UF. They use the term alternate list rather then waitlist.

Well the bright side is May 1st is not too far away. 😀

You'll get in off the waitlist as so will all the other high tier people I know. I'm sure of it. 😀

I called las week, and they said I am on the ballad for the meeting this wednesday, so I will find out either wed. night or thurs. morning. wish me luck!

I wonder if this is the final decision for the year.
 
So this morning at 9:58am I received a phone call fro a 644.... number, which for those of you who don't know, is the first three digits in all FSU lines, so is the number Jamie would be calling from. Anyways, the call wakes me up and with great anticipation and excitement I answer. My heart skipped a beat as the person on the other end asked for a Dr. Reinhardt-- a wrong number call from somewhere on FSU's campus. After saying she was sorry, we hung up. Needless to say, I could'nt go back to sleep.

I am sorry to hear that. It's strange that they called you instead. Maybe you are on a list of people to call and the person accidently called you instead of Dr. Reinhardt. Are you waiting to hear something from FSU?
 
I just saw on the acceptance withdrawal thread that someone withdrew for USF!!!! I didn't think I would be so happy to see someone drop their acceptance. I hope more keep dropping to give some of us on the waitlist a chance.
 
Those of you that received notice from UF about your status after being on hold how did it come...mail or email? I am on hold there and have not heard anything about now being on waitlist or being rejected.

I heard from UM main campus today.... Waitlist. Hopefully it all pans out this summer!

No, the person who normally notifies accepted applicants by phone has been gone this whole week (or so they tell me whenever I call). So, I doubt many people have heard anything. They did say however, they'll be interviewing through the rest of the month . . . more competition for us on hold *yay*
 
no word from fsu for me (i'm on the waitlist)

Congrats, being on the wait list, especially at UM beats being rejected post-int. You have a pretty good chance of getting in. I am a fellow waitlistee. I hope we become students together. :luck:

So I know you are on a Florida thread and this is going to sound biased but I would definitely say either UF or Miami. Tufts and Georgetown are pretty much the same tier as the two Florida schools so there is no reason to put out 40k+ per year in addition to the huge costs of living associated with D.C. and Boston. Between UF and Miami, I would say it depends on how much the scholarship is for, where you want to be, and which school you liked better.
 
Two quick questions:
1) Has "hold" status at FSU officially turned into "waitlisted?"
2) Anyone have any idea how many ppl they've got on hold/waitlisted and how fast the list is moving?

It's always been like a "Waitlist" status, but they just call it hold. You'll be on hold until you're rejected or accepted. At UF there's an alternate list after being on hold, or as I like to call it Hold v2.0.

I am not sure. I think it would depend on the location and curricula. I think they are all stellar schools on equal par with each other but I'd like the Boson or DC feel as a city or even Miami over Gville.
 
Sorry if this is a stupid question but can someone explain to me what being on "hold" at FSU means? I called because I haven't heard anything from them and they told me my application was on hold and they are reviewing those applications now. Does anyone know how many "holds" they generally accept?
 
I Just freed up a spot to FSU good luck to those still waiting.
 
The last day to hold multiple acceptances for FSU COM was 4/20 this year. Probably had something to do with the 15th being a sunday, or they just wanted to give students a little extra time with such a difficult decision. I don't know.
 
Aww...lost cause we won't be classmates 🙁. Have you decided where ur going? I know u had a lot of acceptances.
 
I haven't decided yet. I am still waiting for two financial aid packages but right now I am leaning to either Miami or Emory.
 
Anyone know if UMiami's main campus finished with their decisions?
 
Yeah...so I just got my "aren't you excited ur on our alternate list" letter from UF today. I was wondering what was going on with my hold status there. I guess I will add them to my signature as well.

...and the plot thickens🙄
