Has anyone heard any good news lately?
 
Soccer are you still waiting to here back from some schools? or do u have things figured out?
 
Finals are near and its the end of the year. Most of you guys except those on waitlists have things squared away about your plans for next year so less and less people are posting. If there was some other conversation going on here I'm sure there would be more posts but there isn't really anything besides that of which was the point of this thread: application and waiting to hear back kind of stuff.

But as I already stated, its that time of the year when most have decisions somewhat figured out and when those waiting still have a bit of time to wait til waitlist movement starts.

What's everyone's plans for the summer esp. those who don't start til fall for med school? Anyone traveling anywhere or doing anything exciting? Or are you all just working and chillen before school starts?

I have been busy with final papers and test. I am also getting married in two months so much of my time is split between school and the wedding plans. It is just a very busy time of year for everybody since most people have finals coming up now. I wish this thread had more life 😉

I am waiting to hear from USF. I am top tier waitlisted and an hoping to get a call in the next couple of weeks. Waiting is horrible 🙁 but hopefully worth it!

I am getting married (6/30) 😍. Then I will go on a honeymoon, which I haven't been able to plan yet 🙁 . I am also looking into buying a house so moving is another thing I have to do this summer. It should be quite a year for me! I wish I could travel more this summer but I am pretty busy. My honeymoon will be my only vacation all summer 🙁.

Well, first pass my finals this week and next monday, party :hardy: with our pre-health club the next day, find an apartment in Tampa, then finally relax!

Yeah I figured most people were still taking final and things...I've been done since last Friday so I've been pretty idle. 🙄

So here is some new info: I stayed with a 2nd year student when I went on m visit to USF and recently spoke with her. She along with six other 2nd years are repeating the year!! Is that unheard of? She also said thet a couple of 3rd and 4th years are also repeating. Is repeating something that normally happens? She made sure to point out that she wasnt appealing because she felt like she didnt have a good grasp on the material and that the faculty were not to blame for her set back. I wonder what's the story with the other six?😕
 
There was a man today arrested at USF. He was found sleeping in his car with a gun in his seat and a shot gun and knife somewhere else in his car. Kind of un-nerving due to resent events...

Yea, but it wasn't a big deal. The guy was in the PD parking lot at 4am or something asleep with a .38 (I believe) on the seat next to him. He just wanted attention.

I think you'll find a lot of schools where that happens. Its not usually the school's fault. USF does a lot to support their students and give them aids and help them succeed. I think that there are many med schools that have this problem and have often heard of this sort of stuff on SDN with other out of state schools as well. I know there was a thread about this issue with RFU as well.

Does it mean the school's bad? No just that the students didn't do well. I had a friend who had to repeate first year at UF COM. She had a 32N MCAT, 3.7+ GPA and several ECs when she was in undergrad. She was top notch of USF undergrads but she just had a hard time because it was more then she ever realized it would be in med school.

it was the first time she was living on her own separate from her parents and the adjustment was hard. She passed this year when she repeated the year. Is it the school's fault? No. Was she stupid? No. Did they make a mistake in accepting her? No. But sometimes **** happens. You just pick up the pieces and move on. You do the best you can do and that's all there really is that you can do about anything.

😆 (you guys are silly) ...Yeah the girl I spoke with made it a point to let me know it was definately no fault of the school that she has to repeat. I guess I was moreso shocked with the amount of people repeating. I've heard of one or two, but seven is a lot. She attributes the number to changes in the curriculum and "a tougher standard" USF is trying to implement, which isn't bad. I really wanted to know if anyone else had heard about this or if similar things have happened at other institutions.

I believe I read somewhere here in Preallo or in Allo that there were almost 15 at RFU.

Hey. I talked to FSU this morning and they said that 45 people have dropped acceptances, but that there are no vacant places in the class yet. And that there are 109 people still on hold. Who knows if this is worthless info, because the whole time, they were saying "but that can change at any minute," and "I have no idea what any of this means." I guess it beats knowing absolutely nothing, though. Does anyone know historically, if a lot of people drop between the imposed FSU deadline and when classes start?

Well there was at least one open. Just got the call from Jamie twenty minutes ago. ACCEPTED!! 😀
 
2 hours before my first final, I got the best news I could have hoped for, FSU called with an acceptance offer!!!!

I am happy!👍 👍 👍 👍

Congrats laney and pipedream. 😀 I heard FSU waitlist moved by 10-20 people in the last few days. I don't think they anticipate too much more movement, moybe another 10-20 before binding orientation, but who knows, and good luck to those of you still waiting. :luck:
Ya'll let me know if you aren't from Tally and need someone to show you around town, or give advice on where to live.

Thanks all. After receiving the news I went and made an A on my immunobiology final. It has been a good day!

I am from Tally, so I don't need any orientation to it, but as stated above, if anyone who is going to FSU COM has questions about Tally, I'd be glad to help you out.
