How are you supposed to nap with your whole class gathered round the piano singing show tunes?

I fear clinically so. I think you'd all be surprised at how functional I am in real life. Well, maybe functional in quotes. At least not a danger to myself or others. Maybe just others. Well, scratch that.

Please help me.

April 12 (the suspense is killing me already!)

I thought you guys are supposed to hear on the Wednesday of the week after you interview. So 10 days after interview day. How come you guys will hear back so late??? Glad you liked USF. I get the impression that everyone is warm and friendly from past visits with admissions personell and students here.

Also, if they get an MD/JD program, what law school will they be partnering up with??? The one in St. Pete??? I'm just curious cuz we don't even have our own law school.

However, on a side note and an interesting one......

I read in yesterday's Oracle (USF Newspaper) that not only are UCF and FIU opening up new medical schools. But but but......

USF wants to increase class size from 120 to 200 students and add more new facilities to do this.

OMG, really? REL, if you're reading this, will you confirm?

Does anyone know how many pianos we would have access to at UM? And conversely, how many underground fight club roid gyms we have access to at UF? Any help would be appreciated.

Why Unfrozen is thinking about how many concerts she and Mr.Burns are going to start creating with Red Tide. They'll get all the pianos together and start jamming away as they start preparing for their first Red Tide tour. Then all the groupies will come out and hang out of their Piano room to get autographs.

1) its a week later because the committee isn't meeting one week

2) Stetson

3) REL mentioned yesterday at the interview that everything for UCF and FIU is NOT set in stone.

Oh ok. That makes more sense if they are out for a week. I guess it must be spring break or something.

Yeah when you said JD I figured Stetson would be the closest school they'd be able to affiliate with for law school but wasn't sure. Stetson is the school in Deland right??

In regards to UCF/FIU thing, I was more posting to post about the interesting note about USF desiring to open more seats which is more fascinating then the entertainment of a completely new med school. UF should do the same too.

Hey now, guju, our music is too heavy for a piano. The triangle, although a stereotypically "soft" instrument, actually brings out the melodies in yrodri's heavy guitar riffs; plus, you wouldn't believe the ear-piercing noise one can make using a metal rod and a 10 ft. high triangle. A piano would turn our band into a sissy orchestra.

I believe RunnerMD will breathe life into the triangle.. and as Burns said, it will bring out my "dirty riffs." Aside from that, I'm working on growing my hair - think of Slash from Aerosmith, minus the talent.

"Tonight, screw chicks man, I just wanna dance!" - Dane Cook.

Not if you get creative or get an electric piano which can make other sounds.  😉

Weird. I already responded to this post and just got the email notice that you posted like 2 seconds ago. That's real strange.

Read yesterdays oracle if you can find the archives online. It was on the front page and continued on page 8 in the paper version. I think you can find a copy of the USF oracle on their school website.

Yrodi, I think we should share our lyrics with the rest of the group. Why stick to one genre of music when we can expand into Hip Hop/R&B AND techno?!?!

I agree Runner, let us post our lyrics... hey, that fusion/hydrid worked for Linkin Park, why wouldn't it work for Red Tide...??

UF actually did start to gradually up the number of seats starting in 2001 (85---> ~120 now) after PIMS at FSU was dissolved and FSU started up with its first class.

Stetson is in Deland... 20 mins from Daytona Beach

My dad saw the finer side of Slash....he gave Slash a Vitamin B injection in his best end. Seriously. What's the deal with people wanting Vitamin B injections, anyway? All it does is make your urine extremely expensive. 😉

Hey, you know, "extremely expensive urine" would be a great song title....

Hmm...I don't have access to my MySpace, so I'm not sure if these are the exact lyrics (yrodi, correct me if I'm wrong):

<<insert good techno beat>>

Your love is takin me hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigher,
So high so high, I think I'm on fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiire.
Your love is takin me hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigher,
It feels so good, my mood is not diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiire.

Repeat 50x

UF: Franz Liszt's Piano Concerto 1, featuring classical music's most famous triangle solo.

UM: Metal rod, 10 foot high triangle.

Discuss.

Hadyn loved to rock a good triangle solo too, Runner. Historical lore is that he thought it was also awesome to in the middle of his concertos yell "TRIANGLE SOLOOOOOO" right before the solo, and then headbang right the way through it.

Look at all the stuff you can learn from old people.

Dude, UF does NOT have a triangle. A kazoo maybe, but not a triangle.

In the spirit of Haydn, I propose that we all wear wigs like this during our future performances.

Excuse my crappy photoshopping job below...I really need to bring in actual photo software into work instead of using "ultimate paint."

I have nothing official that I can say about that, but I have heard some internal "rumors" -- still too much to be decided....I, like you, am a consumer on this subject

Does Red Tide need a Bassist? You guys will be MS3's by the time I matriculate but I don't want to get left out of what will undoubtedly be an international sensation we havn't seen since the Beatles came to the United States in the 60's.

If you can keep up with Red Tide's grueling practice schedule of once a semester, then the job is yours. I was also thinking we could add a windchime to Red Tide, but I don't know if that might be too much...what do you guys think?

You know, at Miami in the first few weeks of school, the medical school and the law school have an olympics against each other. We might want to start training for that now too. And I think Red Tide should be involved in the opening ceremonies.

Arent you leaving out the crucial backbone to any musical establishment?

GOTTA HAVE MORE COWBELL!

Does anyone know what happened to bwells46 (the guy who started this thread)?

I believe he's still waiting to hear from any med school that's willing to accept him and probably took time off because it can be depressing when its your second time applying and you still haven't heard from many places. I'm sure he's around and about though. Just PM him. He might respond.

Once a semester practice!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe we need someone who can play the Harmonica or Bazooka too. 😉

A bazooka? I know you have violent tendencies, but we are a peaceful band, guju. Take your massively large guns elsewhere! but leave the tear gas...makes for sweet special effects during concerts.

What about band/insurgency? We could change our name to Blue Tide, and have FL go democrat, through warfare and force tactics. Oh the irony!

I vote for Purple Tide, for the following reasons:

1) It's more inclusive. Both Red and Blue Tide people will feel that they've made a real contribution to the band.

2) Purple is my favorite color, and red and blue aren't. That should be reason enough if you ask me.

Endee....I'm on the bass....sorry....but there ARE open positions on the windchime and crowd surfing with Burnsie. Also, I think Runner should HOLD a Bazooka WHILE playing the triangle...to give it that Heavy Metal/I don't give a **** feel. Also, with the "attire" (if you will) of the band, I think a bazooka would be good to scare off any crazy fans.

On another note...Runner...you were in my dream last night! (seriously). I was either at an interview or the UM open house and you sat across from me....I don't remember if anyone else was there...sorry! I know...strange dream.

Brilliant! I like the way you think.

Which reminds me, during second look weekend the first of four society deans was giving a speech and when he mentioned one of the other deans he goes "He is probably my first republican friend. They actually can be nice people!" I was thinking, I hope no one here is a republican because if they weren't sure about the school before they're definitely not coming now.

I hate when people bring political labels into places they shouldn't be. (or any label for that matter.) Just my opinion.

I hate it when people criticize other people for bringing up politics where they shouldn't be doing it.

(Just teasing you, McMD....I actually really hate when people do that too. 😛 )

Agreed! I'm very outspoken about my views...in the appropriate time and place. I think we should just be called "Tide." (Maybe we could even get some corporate $$$ from Tide detergent. )

I agree completely. Heck, I'm a democrat and I felt uncomfortable after that comment...I think most people did, actually. It's comments like that that bring about the "liberal elitist" stereotype.

Not a bad idea, but there needs to be an apostrophe in there. Like The 'Tide or something. Apostrophes make bands cool.

We also need an umlaut. That would make us totally extreme.
