And Dakota, as discussed earlier, the kazoo is something people at UF would play. However, there is still an opening for the windchime, a second guitarist, that creepy high-pitched children's piano that always makes you think of haunted children marching down corn fields with their arms stretched out (or is this just me?), and a ribbon dancer to accompany caveman's interpretive dancing. And there soon may be an opening for lead vocalist, as Q might be out of our band as soon as she withdraws from UM (if that is indeed the case).

I think the windchime is the instrument most similar to the one at which I have the most skill (trombone) so I'll go with that.

The question is, am I allowed to shake it or do I just blow on it? Perhaps both?

The only other contender (NYU) does not have a band of which I am aware, so heck, why should they even still be in the running?

Yes...I can see it now, and the avatar is definitely kickass!! I'm glad I brought up the "Runner you need to change your avatar" topic....it has worked out nicely for the advertisement of the band.

Ok guys...tomorrow is Friday, which means I will be even more bored than usual at work. So I need a project...I'm modifying my avatar to promote our band, however I'm not a big fan of the blue flaming "&#340;ë&#273; &#356;ï&#273;ë" logo, so I whipped up a few just now. I think we should vote on which is the best temporary logo, and then I'll add it to the triangle pic. <--see this is what happens when you give up alcohol for lent <<sigh>>

I went to UM for one year for undergrad, and I can assure you, everyone plays Rock You Like a Hurricane 😉

The fact that "papi" is such a sensual word in spanish is part of what made me transition away from calling my father "papi." That was awkward...And I think you may be onto something with the cymbal. At first I thought it might be a bit too brass (pun intended), but I think a cymbal clanging out of left field (such as in between songs, in the middle of a song when it's uncalled for, and before the show even begins when the audience is least expecting it) might be a very powerful statement, particularly on the role of communism in an increasingly capitalistic world.

And just to clarify caveman's intentions with the pap smear line, a few pages back I said that the fact that UM has a building called Papanicolau is even more of a reason to go there. Thanks for reading every single post on this thread, yrodri. NOT!!

No, I didn't go to the FAU wknd. I really wanted to, but with the wedding coming up, I really couldn't sacrifice the $200+ for travel/hotel, etc. So, instead, my fiance and I went to the beach with friends and watched guys with big beer bellies and no shirts walk around until we were about to throw up.

I have been around, but haven't been posting, just reading. I've been really busy lately and have only had a few minutes each day to read the posts. Ok, back to looking at stained cells for the next 10 hours 😴

Let me preface this by first saying, this could quite possibly be the most ******ed question asked in this thread. However, I'm an idiot when it comes to financial stuff, so here goes:

I've been trying to figure out the whole loan thing, and I was wondering why people don't mortgage their house in order to pay for med school (if the mortgage interest rates are lower). Is it because a mortgage has to be taken out all at once and starts accruing interest at the very beginning (where as with educational loans, we would be taking out a little each year and deferring payment until the end? with interest not accuring on the subsidized part)?

Also--I am bored out of my mind at work. Anyone have anything interesting ideas for entertainment?
