Wow--this is so cool (well I'm quite the dork, so I like these kind of things...):

On Wednesday of this week, at two minutes and three seconds after 1:00 AM, the time and date will be

01:02:03 04/05/06

That won't ever happen again in your lifetime; unless you make it to 2106.

You may now return to your normal life.
Actually, it'll happen again 12 hours later, at 1:02:03 PM. But it's still special.

Hey! How did the FL thread go back to 4 stars?? I bet it was one of our NC-resident infiltrators (you know who you two are) trying to get back at Frozey. Quick! Everyone rate the thread 5 stars!

I rated it 5 stars 😀 😀 😀 😀

Q, Runner, Unfrozen, Yodri, and so forth we command you to do the same.

Ah, so it WAS you! Well guess what, buddy...you can only vote once and I still have yet to negatively rate the NC thread. haha, that'll teach you to mess with Floridians!

Trust me, Floridians have been messing with me since 2000...thanks for that one guys. The desert really is beautiful this time of year. Plus, you have pics of W '04 Stickers in your thread...need I say more? That is perhaps even more painful to view than the monotonous comments of the NC Thread.

As for our little war, be wary. There are still other votes to be cast (plus, you guys might have trouble figuring out how to vote!). If I'm not mistaken, there is another NC resident that just might be available to cast a vote should I be able to sway his opinion. I don't think it would be overly difficult...I have my ways.

Well, apparently you did sway him because he already rated this great thread of ours "terrible"...you're going to need to teach me your ways because I can't get him to do anything. But regardless, the major difference between the NC and FL threads is that the posters on the FL thread are ridiculously good-looking. And we have a band. Don't hate.

Damn straight. That's how we roll in North Carolina.

You don't want to get into a pissing match, there are WAY more disgruntled people in the North Carolina thread that are available to vote. Of course, they'd have to stop bitching and moaning long enough to do it, but I think it's possible. Y'all are just too happy in your cute little FL thread to do anything so antagonistic.

I'm revoking your didgeridoo privileges.

You can't revoke my privileges, I quit!

Now is where I take my virtuoso didgeridoo skills to a rival band and talk trash about my old bandmembers, starting with the interpretative dancer with 2 left feet.

Isn't it league night, boys? Don't get those pleated khakis and sport jackets in a twist. And stop making fun of my feet.

PS. Wholelotta-- Crime is a disease. Meet the cure. You will know the meaning of these words in 2-3 business days. Details of your death are contained within. Please advise your state. No one will be spared, except for MustangSally who started a birthday thread for me. Particularly "Rob", and that other one.

Does anyone else find it humorous that these NC people are taking the time to read a FL thread? I, for one, don't keep tabs on the TX thread or NC thread or any other state threads. I have better things to do--like making ridiculously good looking avatars to promote our band. Of course, we really don't need promotion b/c we're really really ridiculously good looking. We've even mastered "MAGNUM!" 😎 <--Yeah, that's right--I just broke out the "cool" smiley.

I thought I would take some heat for being from Ohio ... but I think everyone is holding it back because of the simple fact that Ohio sucks balls.

Man, I'm really curious what this thing you've sent me is. I'm still holding out hope that it's Hinkley's 350Z.

and Runner, seriously well done on the avatar. Unfortunately, I typecasted my avatar when I picked my screenname so I can't join you in the Red Tide logos, but I'll live vicariously through yours.

I think that we should revive the picture of "Can we talk about Florida interviews" again. Things have gotten out of control here. NC people ripping on the FL thread; SDN'ers from the Sun Shine state are threatening to do the same...

jeez

Our state is more populated. We can definitely take them on. 👍

I just voted, hopefully that will bump us up. I cant believe that this thread is almost at 100 pages... wow. I gotta say though, rob you crack me up. But not as funny as the floridians. But pretty funny. I chuckled.

Don't encourage Rob.

I don't think the NC people are ripping on the FL thread...they come here for a reason and that is entertainment!

So...UMers, you guys have any idea where you're going to live yet? Besides you, Frozey. I know you're living in my closet.

EDIT: 100th page!!! woohoo!

No clue where I am living.

In other news, I was at the gym this morning, and this guy walks in wearing (I swear to God) a shirt that says <<drumroll>>:

Red Tide Diving Team

So being the dork that I am, run downstairs and grab my camera phone so I can inconspicuously snap a shot of this guy who is shamelessly promoting our band (I mean come on, I knew we would have groupies, but this is crazy! They have a Red Tide Diving Team?!?! Maybe there are Red Tide book clubs, Red Tide Home Owners Associations, etc. The possibilities are endless!...Of course, we will have to get our lawyers to send a "cease and desist" letter so we can cash in on this).

Anyway, the guy was on the treadmill by the time I got back upstairs and the photo turned out blurry.

haha, that is an excellent name for our team of groupies. I must say I admire your devotion to our band. To run the risk of imprisonment for the sake of stalking a guy to take a picture of his shirt? I approve!

No clue where I'm going to live either, I've been looking at apts online for the past month or so. I'll probably head down there at the end of this month or beginning of next to try to find a place. Any suggestions from current med students or caveman appreciated.

This is Floridian territory NCer's, get outta our turf (begins snapping fingers) unless you want to start something (begins walking, hunched over, while snapping fingers). Actually I have to make a decision between UF and UM real soon (May 15th is coming up).... and so far, its actually been tough. I met with the UM financial director, and after talking to them.... UF doesn't seem so bad..... arghhhhh so many factors to take into account. Right now, I'm split 50/50.

Oh well, I'm thankful to have that dilemma in the first place....

Hey all you Floridians!

I'm curious. Did any of you take your pre requisites at St. Petersburg College? Whether you did or not, any idea how the Florida med schools view these?

I'm a non trad in the Tampa Bay area and I've heard horror stories about USF's postbacc in regards to weed out classes, etc. I think I'd do much better at SPC since class size is small and since I took some science there during undergrad and got A's in everything. I only worry because it use to be a junior college so I don't know if it still has that stigma.

I want to start in the Spring of 2007 and take all the pre reqs at SPC. Is this a good idea or not if my goal is a FL med school?

Shut up about schools yrodri. If I hear what you're saying, you're suggesting a beat-it-esque dance off with North Carolina? Only if Burnsy gets to be Wesley Snipes.

I know someone who did and got accepted at Miami......however they only did a few sciences there and are finishing up undergrad at UF.

I think you'd be better off going to USF since it's a four-year school. You might be able to take classes at one of the satellite campuses if you don't want the huge Tampa classes. Since you're in St. Pete anyway, check out the USF-St. Pete schedule. I went to undergrad at the Sarasota campus, and I can tell you that it is very small and nice there. 🙂

Thanks for the responses. SPC is a four year school also. It's no longer a junior college. They have degrees in a few things only though. I looked into the St. Pete campus, but they don't offer the Life Sciences Calc or Physics and I don't think they have Bio I either, but I could be wrong on that one. I guessI can take the Chems there and everything else in Tampa, but I'm just so scared to sit in a class of 200 after being out of school for 10 years.

Any other opinions out there?

Ok, so if it's a four-year college, then it's probably fine. We talked about this a lot in the non-trad forum, because some people wanted to take their pre-reqs at community colleges, but the consensus was that this was not as good as taking them at a four-year college. Maybe if REL is reading this he can give you his opinion about SPC specifically.

Ok seriously, we're all the way down to page 3 here. What is going on?

In other news, the creationist theme park in Pensacola (Dinosaur Adventure Land) is applying for tax-exempt status as a religious organization. They also believe people and dinosaurs co-existed. Discuss amongst yourself.

Yay! Thanks Tiger for reviving the thread--I've been wondering where everyone was.

Re: the Dinosaur Adventure Land story...I find it odd that this is the SECOND time this week, someone has mentioned the possibility of people and dinosaurs co-existing (see The Sopranos, episode "The Fleshy Part of the Thigh").

And while I'm posting, do any of you guys go to church? How are you planning on finding a new church when you move?

No, not unless someone I know is getting married or they're giving away free food. But there is this fantastic erudite tome put out each year by Ma Bell called The Yellow Pages. It would be a great place to start, and you can even look at it on-line at www.yellowpages.com You may also find religious organizations on campus too; check the list of Miami or USF student organizations. And finally, you might try speaking to current students to find out where they go. I can't imagine that finding a church you like could be a problem; I've always received multiple invitations to join churches everywhere I've ever lived, and I'm not even a Christian. 😛

If that were the case, we must have been serious badasses back then to survive alongside them. I recently read an article about a guy (a creationist) who does conferences and lectures all over about how not only is Darwin's theory of evolution wrong, but it is also the basis for racism. Speaking of which, over 50% of people in this country don't believe we evolved from a non-human primate. That stastistic was mind-boggling to me.

This reminds me...if I could go back and prevent one animal from becoming extinct it would be the wooly mammoth. I could raise one from infancy and put little bowties in its hair and teach it to not each children. And then I could rent it out for birthday parties and make a killing because I've killed all the other wooly mammoths in the area and I would have a wooly mammoth monopoly. Sigh...fantasies.

Really? I've never heard of the yellowpages. That's amazing! To think, I've made it to medical school yet never heard of the yellow pages.

Anyway, I probably should have asked if anyone was planning on trying to find a church and if they wanted to look together. I've found a few online that I'm going to check out, but it just SUCKS when you move somewhere and have to find a new church. Its not exactly like saying, "Oh I need to find a grocery store," they all sell Cheerios. Finding the "right" church can be difficult.

Without trying to sound like an emotional weirdo, for some of us, life just doesn't feel quite right when we aren't at a church that feels like "home."

Burnsie...yeah that statistic is astounding. Oh, and if I were to bring back an animal, I'd have to go with the pterodactyl 😉

I know, my post was probably undeservedly sarcastic, and it was definitely intended to be tongue in cheek. 😉 I understand what you mean, though. A lot of the reason that I don't attend services is because of that exact subjective factor that you've mentioned. I have, at various points in my life, attended either a synogogue or a unitarian church if I liked the rabbi or minister, and I occasionally go to Hillel functions on campus now. But at the moment I am between houses of worship. 😀

I get annoyed when people try to disprove evolutionary theory by distorting what it says. You'll see people making arguments like this: if we evolved from monkeys, then why do monkeys exist? That line of thinking shows that this person has NO understanding of what evolution is actually saying. It would be like me saying something to the effect of the following: if my cousin exists, how could I have evolved from my cousin? Everyone knows that I didn't evolve from my cousin; rather, we have a common set of grandparents. And that is the case for humans and monkeys, too. It's just a little farther back in the family tree. Sorry for the rant, but that idiotic argument really does annoy me. 😛

I'd bring back those huge prehistoric sharks with all the teeth. What are those things called again? I'd put them in the waters here around Florida, and feed them tourists that don't know how to drive. Ah, here, I found a link to show one: http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/content_pages/record.asp?recordid=51061

I believe you are referring to the dreaded megalodon Q...that's one of the few worthless memorized facts I still remember from my second semester of bio (the biodiversity class, obviously extremely important for doctors to take...I mean COME ON you have to know all about stromatolites and about how plants invaded land habitats, the sneaky bastards). Oh and I remember that some tazmanian animal went extinct in a zoo somewhere in the world in 1933....what exactly was it yrodri?

What denomination church are you looking for runner?

Hurricane...did you go to UM undergrad? I went for a year (took my bios there) and remember in great detail our "Biodiversity" (aka Bio 2) course. I had Blaise Maffia--did you have him? Needless to say, the "blaze" jokes were endless in that class...

Thanks for the nightmares I'm going to have tonight of massively huge sharks, Q. Now I have to revise my idea of Hell to having sex with John Madden 40,000 feet up on an airplane filled with water with giant prehistoric sharks and that doll on a tricycle from Saw swimming around while listening to Ashlee Simpson's "Pieces of Me" on loop. I think that about sums it up.

OMG! I have not thought of "Pieces of Me," in months, and now I have that song playing in my head. That is quite possibly the most irritating song known to man.

This is even worse than the other two songs/jingles I've had in my head recently:

1.) The new Charmin Mega Roll jingle

2.) The Blue Bell Ice Cream jingle--specifically the line that says,
"Mama hollerin' through the screen,
'Would you kids like some homemade ice cream?' "

Yeah runner I'm still here, graduating in just five more weeks. I had Herbert for Bio160. His tests were all the same year to year. Not that it matters anymore, but I cant believe I got a B in that class....I refused to memorize past tests because for some reason I couldnt believe anyone would be so dumb as to ask the same questions every semester

Anyhow if you attend the miami campus you can look around because there's pretty much a student center for every denomination you can think of (well almost, I don't recall seeing a "kingdom hall of jehova's witnesses" anywhere). They can probably give you a directory of churches in the gables area, there's quite a few.

You want irritating? the invisible song by g(cl)ay aiken. Why they play that at the UM gym is beyond me. I mean you're laying there in a precariously vulnerable position doing abdominal exercies before the assembled masses and that song comes on...its just disturbing if you ask me.

Wow im bored...im getting lunch soon.
