For Later Submitters (Late July-Aug): What have YOU heard from schools?

I feel you....my app was send later than yours but my lor was sent about the same time so.....our apps are practically late or later than the original submittion date because of lor which is out of our control...

I wouldn't say we are late, but we are sure cutting it close. Let's hope we hear from schools soon.

LOR is a drag! Mine was sent by my school on 08/17 and AADSAS received it on 08/24. It should take another "2-3 weeks to process and sent to designated dental school." That would mean a little before mid-september before school receive it.SUCKS!!

I'm totally with you guys about the LOR thing. My app was sent out 7/10 but I had one LOR to wait on. He didn't submit it until early Aug and it was finally sent out about 2 weeks later - I just now received app complete emails from UCSF and UNLV. Ugh. So annoying.

I have some positive info for those of you freaking out about late LOR's. My mailing date was 8/10. My last LOR didn't get submitted by my dentist until two days ago...and i already had 2 interview invites.

I'm reapplying this year, but had several interviews last year. There were a few different schools that mentioned how some people at the interview needed to make sure to get their LOR's in.

The point is, I don't think many schools wait on LOR's when processing applications and offering interviews. Maybe a few do, but it seems like the majority just consider gpa/dat/extracurriculars when offering interviews.

yeah...and i know that makes me sound lame at interviewing, but i actually only had 1 poor interview. there just ended up being a lot of complications last year...

8/25 Received supplemental applications from ASDOH, Midwestern, NOVA, and Louisville.
8/26 All supplemental applications have been received electronically and now I'm just waiting for invites.

Still waiting to hear from Tufts, Temple, and UF.

I emailed NYU since on AADSAS it said it was waiting on information but the application was received, they said they got my supp fee- but my app is in batch 7 and they are currently reviewing batch 4. They need my LORs and some other paperwork that will be in that batch 7 before my application can be complete and be reviewed.

but as far as supplementary apps- how do i find out if NYU, TUFTS, or BU has it?

That's what I meant. Just sent the supplemental fee...but no written app is necessary. I wish other schools would just forget about the written supplementals...it's just a bunch of repetitious work the school wants you to do in order to make you feel better about taking your money.

i don't know about tufts since i just sent them money but for BU there was nothing else that i had to do. just the aadsas app

Atticus: no i don't think i got an email from them after i sent them money. i was wondering about that too but i just got an email today.

the funny thing about supp apps is that i spoke to a representative from a dental school earlier today about the length that i should write/answer some of the questions. and i was told that at this point in the application they probably wont even read the supp apps and just go by the aadsas submittion since they have so many to review. i guess they want the supp app just in case.

i am currently still working on a few supp apps as i just received them a few days ago and hope to submit them by tomorrow afternoon.

8/28 Invited to Midwestern for interview 11/24/09.
......11/30/09 was my other option but flights seemed cheaper for the earlier date so I went with that. 😀

I had nothing on Boston AADSAS page until I received email invite. THEN they updated it to invited. So no complete or under review etc
was total surprise! It seems they looked over quite a number of appl at same time as I see people from from first batch to the end of July applicants received invites.

Interesting. I submitted mine on 8/17, but the mailing date listed is 09/08 after I sent them an email asking them about it.
Hmmm... maybe I should have send them an email sooner. I didn't think that was required.

I also heard from UCSF, ASDOH, western, Loma Linda, Nova, columbia, tuft, NYU, Upenn, UOP.. did all the supp, but not interview yet...
I havent heard from UCLA, Boston Univ, Univ of Michigan and Pittsburg Univer.

My first AADSAS was mailed on 7/31. Decided to apply to BU about a week later and it mailed to them on 8/17. Heard from them yesterday in email around 9am saying they received it and asking to pay the supp fee. I did that at 9:10 and then around 3pm, I got an interview invite for November 17th

Along the lines of this post, what are your guys' experiences on wait times for AADSAS? My GPA was finally verified today after 10 days just sitting there. Was curious if it's really going to take them 4-8 weeks to put it in an envelope or if that guideline is to set our expectations low.

What are you guys experiencing in terms of wait times once GPAs are verified by AADSAS? I took my DAT a couple of weeks ago and had those scores sent off so all I'm waiting on now is my actual application (shouldn't have waited for my summer grades to post in hindsight).

I just got the same message this morning. From last cycle's experience, I received from them an e-mail about my application being complete after about a month. So I wouldn't worry if you got any e-mail

Are you refraining from calling them because it said something along the line of no contact necessary? Unless you took the DAT recently and they haven't received your scores, or your LOR, I would try to contact them to see what's up.

I thought I'd contribute to all the Berkeley kids! Just got off the phone with Noemi and she said that UCLA changed their policy 2 years ago to where 1A/3A/3B did not meet the year of g-chem and a year of o-chem. There is no grace period, even if you already graduated. The good news is if you put down an expected chem course in the spring, then you will be considred for interview and admission!
