im not new to sdn. i just made this account for this purpose. I just finished the organic chemistry series and as a result of my success in the series I decided to make some videos on youtube. I know that there are many videos out there on youtube some of which are really good but coming from a student who just finished taking the series can be beneficial. most of the videos I have posted on youtube so far, are in regards to second semester organic chemistry. I'll be continuing to add more vids so if you need help check it out...

Nice! Keep it up.

Also, are you planning to do videos that are centered around the MCAT? That would be so helpful haha

thanks hopefully when i take ochem next fall it will be helpful. Also, do you know how much of ochem 2 will be on the mcat because i will not be able to take it until second semester of my junior year, the same semester im taking the MCAT.

It's been four years since I took Orgo1 [been busy serving] and I'll be knocking out Orgo2 this coming semester. I'll def be utilizing these on a frequent basis. Thanks dude.

no problem man... currently im frequently uploading ochem 2 vids...the way im doing this is a bit unorthadox. Im starting off with ochem 2 topics, then ochem 1 topics, then gen chem...if i get enough time, i may do vids on biochemistry

I haven't taken the mcat yet; im taking it this spring, but
I've heard different things from different people. some people say that the mcat has a mixture of both ochem 1 and ochem 2 material. some people have said that ochem 1 is more focused while others have stated that ochem 2 is focused on the mcat. i can't give you a difinite answer so best thing to do in my opinion is to take all required pre reqs, then take the mcat. good luck!🙂

MCAT ochem is very strange. There has been less representation of it in recent years, but don't be surprised by 1-2 passages or several discretes here and there. The questions could either be VERY specific (eg reactants and catalysts) or very general. Some might even just have you count the number of carbons you see.

These videos are a good review, but be sure to do a good number of practice problems to prepare.

No problem. I've stated in my videos that if there are topics where you guys need help in, feel free to leave a comment and i'll be glad to make a video on it! enjoy

That's a really nice thing you did.

I hope it comes back to you.

Merry Christmas.

Thanks so much for doing this! The videos are extremely useful and helpful.

Is is my pleasure to do so. When I used to be an ochem student, I would look for vids on youtube but the videos i would find would either be way to long or just confusing. I did my best to condense the material and get across the main points. I hope you enjoy!🙂

I was wondering, will you be going over how to be prepared for the ACS final. A friend of mines told me that the way the problems are presented on the acs final are very unusual. i would really appreciate it!!

I may but it all depends again if I get the time. I have other things I have to take care of but again it all depends if I get the time. Just stay tuned. 🙂

Posting a comment so I can find this thread and the video link later on 😀 Thanks 🙂

If you do good in Organic 2 up to the final, you'll be fine on the final. Most of Organic I is groundwork for 2. You can't succeed in 2 without knowing 1 cold. Definitely go back over some material, but you shouldn't have to spend more than a couple days on it, if that. I don't remember the order to the final, or if there was an order, but the questions were pretty straight forward. The thing I used most was the ACS Organic book.

Thanks for the advice. I keep hearing from people that the best thing to use for the acs final is the acs study guide. What are you thoughts on it?

Without a doubt. Get it a few weeks in advance. Like I said earlier, you'll probably be fine in Organic I material, but when you go to do a quick review of that stuff, this book is perfect for it. I think there's like a small lesson. There is a problem set, and then answers and explanations.

It may vary as to the thoughts, but I think it's better to use than old exams. The ACS people write the study guide and the exam. You need to know what's in that, and really not anything else. Alot of times, professors make the course way harder than the ACS material. If you can ace his ridiculous higher level problems, you can handle the ACS final. It's great to learn it that way, but come final time you're usually dealing with multiple exams, and limited time.

Thanks. BTW Ive been checking out your vids and they are 👍

Just wanted to give a quick update to all people taking or planning to take organic chemistry.

I have been constantly making videos on the organic chemistry. I have covered a majority of the material you guys need to know in regards to aromatic rings, alcohols and I'm almost done with ethers. Again, if you guys have any requests on other material just leave me a message here or on my youtube channel and Ill make a video to clear up the confusion. Thanks and I wish you guys the best of luck in your classes.🙂

Hello fellow chem students,

I've been getting personal messages of people asking me if I'm only making videos on second semester organic chemistry topics. The answer is yes and no.

Since no one has asked me to make videos regarding first semester organic chemistry or general chemistry, Ive only been making videos on second semester organic chem.

Again, those of you who are confused in regards to 1st semester organic chem or gen chem, please leave a request, I'll be happy to make a video to help you guys out.

GOOD LUCK! 🙂

this is perfect, all the stuff for my second semester.
I watched the video on epoxides, very good review for me. Thanks, very nicely made and a great help.

Thank you! You rock! 🙂

Hello everyone,

I was just curious about the videos I've been posting as of late. Have they been helpful? Any feedback is appreciated. 🙂

Watched. Too long.

Shorten. Brevity. Determine objectives and deliver, eliminate fluff.

I'm not in Ochem yet, but its really nice of you to take the time out of your life to make these videos! 🙂

Thanks you!

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely keep your words in mind when making videos in the future.

Hey, I am an ochem instructor as well, but I get paid $20/hr for it...you should look into it. It's a sweet gig.

Hey everyone. Ochemistry here.

I wanted to let you guys know that I won't be making any videos anytime soon; I have a pretty difficult course load. Wish there was more time. On the other hand, I have left you guys with 33 or 34 (I forget how many) videos covering topics in second semester organic chemistry. Wish you guys the best of luck!!!!!

Sincerely,
Ochemistry

I'll be lurking on your channel from time to time. Thanks bro.
